i will give the engine number tomorrow.
Why can i be lucky?

2495cc turbodiesel, overhead valve, type 19J: Given the strength and reliability of the 2.5 diesel, you can understand why Land Rover thought it would cope with turbocharging, but the result was a warranty nightmare. 2.5TDs can fail in any number of ways, but the most common seems to be internal cracks developing in the cylinder block. This gives the same symptoms as a blown head gasket or cracked cylinder head, but is not repairable. Due to a defective design of crankcase breather, these engines also tend to dump large amounts of engine oil into the air filter housing, which turns the paper air filter into a soggy black lump. This in turn leads to oil being drawn into the air intake, causing the engine to 'run away' and self-destruct.
Land Rover introduced a new cylinder block for the 2.5 Turbodiesel (part no. ERR479) from engine number 19J27515C. I have not been able to confirm, but suspect that this block was strengthened to get round the block cracking problems

pinched from of the web cus i could,nt be arsed ta type it

So now you know what the engine is - the advice above is all good (even if it's not what you wanted to hear). The 2.5TD engines do have a habit of self-destructing - and you have no idea how it has been treated in the past. Give it a good service and keep your driving sensible, but in the meantime keep your eyes open for a 200tdi engine. It's not a difficult engine swap (check out the thread at the top of this section) and will make a huge difference to your Landy.

Could be worse - could be a bulkhead replacement.

Or frame...

I'd expect quite a lot for 5k anyway. But engine-wise I'd go for a 200tdi or a 2.25 petrol (though I cant afford to run a 2.25 at the moment...). It's not like you dont have the choice for that kind of money.

Oh, and as was said before, your steering wheel is on the wrong side.
And the colour isn't called "babies first accident" by any chance, is it?

I think someone should research 'English sense of humour' and endeavour to attain some.
Oh and ask someone to help him get his head out from up his arse.

bloody PC prick. Go find a forum which is nicely moderated and where they let you use safety scissors. And be careful with the paper, you might cut yourself.

If you're not english, I suppose you aint from yorkshire (tho sum of em really seem not to come from england to me... not from this world anyway... my GRANDFATHER for example!)
So if you're not from england, WHATS YOUR ****ING PROBLEM? I didnt say anything about you, did I?

Well anyway, dont let the door hit you on your way out. Best of compliments to your boyfriend.
