Very nice collection! :) And good pics as well. A mate has a UAZ, tough little things!

Better live up to my rep as a pedantic peasant, and mention the green oval wasnt even a glimmer in a marketing mans eye when that series was built! ;)

Cheers folks.

Last year was a fun one for the two old vehicles - the Series got 4 flats attending the NEC in October, Running Michelin XCL's on tubes because I could not get the original Firestones or Deestone copies for love or money. I think the tyres are abrading the tubes so I am going to fit Defender rims - they look virtually identical and are tubeless so hopefully I won't get that problem again. With 6 batteries and all the radio gear on board its a heavy old bus to have to push :)

The UAZ makes a Series look refined - each brake drum is a different diameter...... So under hard braking it has a vicious pull to the right. And on the road last year I suddenly got I a high pitched squeal. Got my daughter to sit and listen as I drove and she she said it was coming from behind the I/P. Only rotating there is the speedo cable so i disconnected it and no more squeal. Fitted a new cable then went to the Red Oktober day at the Ace Cafe last October. Squealing was back - this time however I noticed the speedo reading was insane - up to 120 kph - when squealing dropping to fairly accurate when not according to the sat nav.. Then on the way home I noticed the speed dial was actually rotating in the housing!! Seized speedo head it seems! Ordered a new head form Poland - it came in January so as soon as the damned rain stops I'll go and fit it. :)
