Whats up with my heater? I get lots of air but its not very hot, especially on the passenger side. The temp guage says the engine is hot with the guage showing a little over half way.

heater in my series was Akterlee very good - mind yu - that mite have been coz it only had to heat a truck cab

apparently fitting the matrix from a >2007 deepender does the job, coz its bigger.

It's going to be either a matrix or flap adjustment issue, if the engine is getting up to temperature then the matrix should be able to deliver a decent amount of heat.
My 300TDi is completely standard (viscous fan fitted and no rad-muff) yet even in these sub-zero temperatures the temperature of the air coming out of the dashboard & windscreen vents is 60 degrees C. A fume curtain keps the heat in the cab (soft-top) but the heater delivers the heat quite adequately.

i just assumed thats how it was in a landy
But now there may be hope it could reach a somewhat uesful warmth. (at least enough to take the ice off the inside of the window)

ok, so it was -13 degC this morning. It took a long time to get the engine warm but I guess it would at this temperature. Once the engine was hot the air really wasnt that warm. I have no viscous fan so guess it could be heater adjustment needed. How do I adjust for more heat?

I dont mind the cold but I dont like being cold.
Mine was fine until the weather got cold and now I can fart hotter than the heater no matter how long I drive it. No cooling fan, radiator completely muffed, stat working and just does not open at these temps, heater matrix clean and adjusted. Pathetic.
We're going on an expedition to Exmoor late January so I need to get some heat into the motor or the kids will moan all the way there.

If it's a S3 owner who told you that it means taking out the engine and transplanting a 200 or 300Tdi engine in it...i was told it would fit S3's and deependers - with some fettling - woteva that means

it was when I had an S3 - and they dint mention Tdi injuns - but as I aint tried it, i cannot possibly comment as to its suitability.

Well I must be one of the lucky Landy owners, both my Series III and 110 CSW have superb heaters (all standard).
Although I'm fairly sure fenby1968 was very impressed with his winter heating when he finished the 200Tdi transplant last winter.

I'll take some photies and sizes while I'm there and get them posted. Assuming they have one in stock of course and are not on back order until next June.i was told it would fit S3's and deependers - with some fettling - woteva that means

before you go down that road, have you checked your heater water pipes. on my 300tdi with the engine at normal temp (on the gauge anyway) if i then disconnect one of the pipes from the matrix i just get a lack luster flow of tepid water so the heater is doing the best with what is has but doesn't stand much hope.
i have no idea why the water isn't red hot and pressurised
