Sorry I haven't got back to you quicker, I noticed it my engine was getting noisier but thought it just needed a service which I did and it seem to quieten down this could of been to the newer oil but after a month or so it came back, only after getting underneath to check to see if was fouling on something did I notice where the noise was coming from checked for movement but there didn't seem that much but once it was changed the engine noise reduced......that was a year ago.
cheers mate, ill have a check when it stops raining, i think its injector related though. its book in with a injector specialist on monday so i might get them to take a look ewhile its there

its book in with a diesel injector specialist on monday moring so hopefully ill know what the problem is and can get it fixed

took it to the diesel specialists today, this plugged in their fancy bosch kit and found a load of fault codes, cleared them, took it for a drive and no difference although they said theres definitely something wrong. so all 4 injectors are coming out in the morning and theyre collecting them to be tested at £17.50+vat each but at least ill know if the problem is with the injectors.

he also asked if id had the replacement loom fitted which i havent and suggested that might be the next step if the injectors come back ok

Hi Gaj, I believe it has been suggested several times on this thread re the loom. I thought you had replaced it.

nope not replaced the loom yet, unfortunately, tbh i dont know a great deal about the problem it causes so will do some reading on it tonight. ill get the injectors tested tomorrow either way just for piece of mind after having to faulty ones, also the warranty on them is up next month so will be a final check for them before i have to start shelling out the beans for replacements. iirc the updated loom is around £30? ill also be replacing the O ring on the fuel pump but want to do one thing at a time so i know what is causing the fault if that makes sense

I think changing the loom should be a pretty easy job. Unless I'm mistaken (happens often), you just unclip the cables from the injectors and the other end from the ECU.

Yeah looks pretty straight forward, was just having a look at it. Was reading up on it last night and got a bit confused. Which loom needs changing is it the injectors loom or the fuel pressure sensor loom?

Pulled all the injectors out this morning nowhen waiting for them to be collected for testing.

1 injector is different to to the other 3 for some reason. Old receipts show they were replaced as a set. Also the ends of all 4 were absolutely black. Cleaned most of it off.

The fuel rail pressure sensor loom is a known issue and so there is an official replacement loom available for that.
However it has been known for the injector loom to break down too. These are quite expensive to replace, just in case.

thanks nodge. will look into changing them if the injectors come back ok.

Could they have come from a refurbisher as a set even though one looks different. I guess if they are all calibrated the same way it shouldn't matter but I'd be suspicious.

i suppose its possible, they were bought from euro car parts, maybe someone else has had similar, id have thought they all be the same though?

Obviously Euro car parts don't make them, so they would buy them in. I suspect that the black one is made by a completely different manufacturer. This is bad because I seriously doubt that it would be an exact match to the other 3. It doesn't even have the same physical dimensions.

thanks nodge,
just spoke to the company thats testing them and they said all 4 injectors are absolutely fine with no problems what so ever. which is good but i was hoping there was going to be a faulty one.
oh well on to the next step i suppose. i will order a new pressure sensor loom and see what happens. if that doesnt solve anything i may get it carbon cleaned again as it was slightly better after the last one.

thanks again for everyones help

Also just been out looking at it (convincing my self not to scrap it) and pulled off the connector for the fuel pressure sensor, as it came off a little puff of rusty stuff came out, so ill clean it up before the manifold goes back on. pins in the sensor look ok though, actually the sensor looks like its been replaced but theres no receipts for it so cant be sure.

Rust in the HPFR sensor is bad. This is why there's an overlay harness. I would suggest that you invest in one. ;)
