I've also got this wet passenger footwell problem and have yet to do a proper investigation (every time I look at the land rover it starts ****ing with rain). However, I've heard rumours that there is a large rubber grommet in the bulkhead where wiring comes through which tends to fail and let water through as well. Apparantly from the engine side this is hidden from view by the windscreen wash bottle and it is also awkward to see / get at from the footwell... Will keep an eye on this thread for fixes to either grommet or windscreen seal problems. Daze, that basically looks like a nice solid Disco - old but still a quality drive.
Thanks!
Funny enough I wanted to take my washer bottle out anyway today (see pics below). I now know the rubber grommet you mean and mine looks fine, very well sealed to body & doesn't seem obvious that it would let water in.
Before you start using your dosh/time, you'll be happy to find that lots of bits are still available new and cheap.

Excellent, thats great to know! Luckily I managed to get that MG interior light (same model number I'd imagine - identical) for free from local scrappy
Sounds like you're having as much fun as I did! I poured water from the top - no leak, then from half way down the screen - no leak, then from the bottom corner and it leaked! I couldn't understand it at all as all the water was heading in the same direction.
My leak was actually in the bottom corner of the screen and I think the water just takes a while to work it's way from the top of the screen down inside the rubber. If you pour enough from the top and wait long enough it will probably leak.
I filled lifted the trim at the bottom of the screen and filled with tiger seal then ran a bead between the glass and the rubber from top to bottom. I'll see if I can get a photo later but I've since fitted a southdown snorkle which may block the pic.
Typing this has made me paranoid again so I need to go and take the footwell trim off and check it's all still dry
Haha, same with the paranoid feels! Although I'm still yet to see mine actually leak myself - carpet was wet when I bought the car.
Talking of leaks still, did some investigating and was looking all around at the bottom of the screen. I took these 2 pics of drivers & passenger sides of the screen (passenger right, drivers left in photo). You notice the gap between the rubber on the screen and that plastic trim piece? Also the gap between the 2 plastic trim pieces? This is the only noticeable difference I've seen drivers vs passengers that might(?) result in leaks. Will investigate more, but a dash of TigerSeal around these areas perhaps a good idea? I'll have to test with the jug of water idea.
As said above, removed the washer bottle today as the pumps sounded a little weak and I suspected that the bottle was full of junk. Sure enough, really disgusting inside!
Dropped in vinegar and hot water, along with a sink unblocker-thing, and managed to get most of the junk out as to help prevent blocking of the pumps
After about 30 mins, it was looking a little nicer.
Neck & filter as best as I can get them - it'll do.
Re-fitted, topped up & tested. All washers good now
Took a little time for the pumps to unblock themselves, but they sound fairly healthy now
Fairly unrelated, but I decided to remove the rear spare wheel cover. I'm not sure yet if this looks better or worse removed? Or if its a good idea? I know the reason of the spare wheel covers is to prevent the tyre from perishing, but looks fairly perished already!
What do you guys think?
And finally, been meaning to get some interior photos, I'm happy with how clean it is inside. Its important to me that the car is a nice place to be, as after a long & tiring drift event with my Nissan, it'll be refreshing to jump back into the wagon for the drive home in comfort.
I've got a 3.1amp (fast charge) dual cigarette USB charger for my iPhone, and I've ordered a neat phone holder too - hopefully arrive tomorrow.
That, along with the radio I picked up from Halfords for £65 (clearance) which also has Bluetooth handsfree. Things like this will help on the long drives up & down the country that I'll occasionally be doing while on tow.
