Today, I drove the 100 miles to my Dads, so he could see the Landy. I found out he used to drive a series back in the late 50's (he doesn't often share such information!!).
I took him out for a little trip which made him smile. He's 87 but got in and out ok. The Landy performed impeccably and kept up 60mph on the A1 no problem :)
That's around 450 miles since I bought her plus 2 off road adventures. I am still grinning :D:D:D

you need to find his land rover from the 50s me thinks

The tread on my tyres proved woefully inadequate so I got these s/h off the bay :)

Quite pleased, between 8mm and 10mm of tread and one is new :D
I now have 9 wheels to choose from

Double check your steering lock stop bolts when you fit them to make sure you do not foul the radius arms on full lock.

Cheers
Cheers I will check. I am hoping that it is ok as they are +8 and that's what mine are supposed to be according to the previous owner :)
But as you already have seen, my truck is full of surprises!

My shiny new electric impact driver is fantastic. It came fully charged and I have been using it a lot.
I checked and the battery gauge said it was getting a bit low so, I put the battery on charge.
Flash, Bang, Smoke  not a happy camper!!
Anyway, a quick chat with Amazon and I can return it for a full refund including postage, so not too bad.
(I am just annoyed as I still have tight nuts and bolts to undo!!)

Not so good, have you identifed the problem yet?

Cheers

It seems that the slave cylinder has a leak. The wading plug kept the dot4 in the bell housing so didn't show during the trip. When the truck got to our house, I managed to drive it into the garage although the pedal was very low with a sort of on/off action.
Today I got it out of the garage to clean it before I started on it and I could change gear. I pulled the top off the master and checked the oil. After replacing the cap and trying to get it into gear to put it back into the garage, no clutch again......
So I am going to replace the whole hydraulic system, I am thinking of changing the clutch too, do you think I should?

Personally, If it is only the slave then I would only change that, bleeding can be a PITA, but changing a whole clutch when you do not need to seems a waste of time and money. Unless you are bored. :p My slave failed almost 2 years ago, changed it and since then no problems... Except for the wheel bearing..LOL.

Cheers

I expect the clutch is fine as it seems strong. The master looks ok but the cap breather hole is blocked.
Even if I don't change the master, I think I will buy one 'just in case' :D
I hope you get your bearing fixed! When is the next trip as I am eager to do more than a quarter of the adventure
