Well bit if an update, with work being mental the past couple of weeks and my collection of parts growing I realised I need to shift some of the workload to someone else or it was never going to get done.
So my mate who runs his own garage took it away for a couple of weeks and now it has returned with a new cambelt kit, water pump, adjustable panrod arm, extended bumps tops, de-cat pipe, front discs, pads and calipers.

Truck has had tracking done again and this has finally reduced some of the steering wobble, but kit completely. But I'm thinking it's down to the quality of the Fedima remoulds so I shall be keeping an eye on them and see what happens.

Also I replaced all the breather lines as some were damaged and finally run them up to the top of the snorkel.

Next on the list will be replacing the side exit section of exhaust as its rusted through above the axle. Make and fit a set of 2" suspension blocks.
Also I've had enough of the auto box, it just doesn't feel right to me. Friend of mine is breaking a manual 300tdi so I'm going to have the box out of that along with all the parts I need to do the conversion.

That little lot should keep me busy through January. :)

Cheers mate, I felt like I was cheating by getting someone else to work on it but with how knackered I am outside of work I know I end up making a mistake lol.

Also ordered a intercooler and egr silicon hose kit and that standards ones seem to be past their best.
 
Hello mate when you said you replaced you inner archs ?
Did you replace all of it I have got to do mine !! I have found a bolt on kit on eBay from easy on pannels it is all of the inner arch/body mounts /lights surrounds and Battery tray but they not cheep tho
What did you use any help would be most appreciated buddy ????

Hello fella. My mate did the work for the previous owner.
He painstakly removed the old panels and made new ones from scratch. He's a very skilled welder with lots of patience but it still took him a long time.
Can't really advise you to do it or not, maybe YouTube could help.
 
So another update as I've been a bit slack lately.
Almost all work on the truck is done at night in the cold so appoligses for the crap photos.

Firstly dug my old Scooby seats I kept from my old Disco and Mike made some new subframes to fit them in.

Sit an inch higher than before but less chance of a wet arse in the fords!

Next up lack of power, auto box has always been sluggish for pull away but now on the road performance was noticeably worse.

Inspection of the intercooler pipes provided the answer.......

Next up CB Radio, last time I had one on the dash but hated the way it was just stuck on the half arsed. So went with the roof option.
Firstly heated up a piece of metal and forced it through the plastic

First attempt, does need some refining but I'll get another trim piece and do it again at a later date.

Had a days green laning, good fun was had. Drove home with a rather nasty grinding noise.

Which I couldn't get till the morning so truck spent the night outside the workshop on an axle stand

Followed by new stub axle and wheel bearing kit fitted the following morning

Note the damage to the break disc, gives you an idea of how much play had developed the the bearing

Then another laning day involving more mud and some 3-4ft fords too for good measure, great day out.

Not without it's drama's. Again on the drive home, this time felt like axle was going to fall off.
Discovered the problem, 1 missing suspension bush!!

Then on going issues meaning my new Fedima's have gone back to tyres-direct for inspection. Will update on this but I expect a new set of wheels and tyres sharpish.
In the mean time Mike loaded me his 'summer' tyres.

Also issue which is causing major headache is condensation on the windscreen. Seems parked out side for more than a couple of hours in the dark and the inside of the windscreen is dripping wet.
Tonight it has actually frozen inside. Thought had sorted any leaks around the top of the windscreen and I've sealed the sunroof again but apart from that I dunno what else to do.
Having to use a wiper blade to clear it it's that bad
 
Condensation on the inside is due to internal damp. Have you removed the under floor sponge? You could try leaving it in a heated workshop with a dehumidifier inside it.
Saying that, when I had mine in bits, the interior never dried out despite being baked in the summer heat.
 
Update on my tyre saga. They've been returned to Tyres-Direct and had a email today:

The tyres are back with us I would say they are not out of shape but they are impossible to balance to the amount of tread their is to the tyres and they way they have been built.
Is there a different tyre you would take?

Not out of shape?? I spun the fcukers and one part of the tread was 10mm higher!!
Huge wheel wobble above 35mph is unacceptable for any tyre sold in my eyes but maybe I'm wrong. Also my names not Mark!

Well that's odd because I was told they would be balanced before they were sent to me. Also discussing the issue on a Land Rover forum I found other member who had the same tyres as me #without any wheel wobble issues.
When we jacked my Discovery up and rotated the wheels is was clear to see the tread was rotating unevenly, as if the tread had been moulded to the carcass wrong.
What I would like is another set of VJ910's on matching carcasses that are round.
