Yes my 23 year old Range Rover is uniquely different to BMWs from the same era even though they are using BMW running gear!

Even though the engine in his BMW is a higher displacement version of my actual engine, and his car is from the same era!

And I mentioned directly after his post that my engine is literally the basis from which BMW built his engine.

So it will have the same ECU.

I just noticed that you bolded and underlined the word "cars" as if that somehow makes the situation different because he is not talking about an SUV.

You took them as direct critisim rather than answer in a technical manner, i.e. anything on either forum that doesn't agree with your ideas seems to be critisim or offensive to you !!

Best you go play with your rusty old L322. Never seen one without rust . . . . . .there's an opportunity to prove otherwise with piuctures !

I did not get ideas, I got insults.

But when I did get ideas I responded to the ideas with facts and I got told that I was an idiot without any mechanical knowledge.

You will never understand that but it is OK because we are now on 19 pages of insults and 1 page of technical discussions.

Let me explain this to you in a way that you might understand.

If I was an argumentative person coming to a forum full of good decent people then as soon as I argued, everyone else would stop talking to me and the thread would end.

On other threads and on another forum I asked questions, I got answers, and there was no argumentative process going on for 20 pages.

But somehow in your mind I am the problem and you guys are innocent.

Like I said, I have seen other people treated this way and they just stopped posting on this forum and never came back.

I was going to do the same but this has been so ridiculously funny that I come back here every day to have another laugh.

Maybe you could go through this comment from me slowly and carefully and think about it really deeply.

I will say it again, if I was the problem then this thread would've ended after 3 pages.

No one would have engaged with me.

I stopped having technical discussions about this question a long time ago.

How many times do you need me to say that to you before you get it?

Something as simple as getting different bolts is not a big issue, so it is irrelevant to whether this idea would definitely not work, or if it would potentially work, and therefore it is irrelevant to my question.

Although this is fun I am seriously considering switching off notification to this thread as I seriously have better things to do than cross swords, or handbags, with this guy with a massive ego problem.
Keep on trucking with it peeps as I will be out in a second or two, though I may pop back in now and again to see if the pot is still boiling.

Now let's see about the BMW, it will have been designed for a certain ratio between the engine, the gearbox and the differential.

Being a car it will have been done for that use.

Changing the differential would only fail if the engine ECU or gearbox ECU had a problem.

Since they didn't everything is fine.

But wait one is a 2 wheel drive and the other is a four-wheel-drive!

You cannot make this sh!t up.

I cannot even bother to waste time explaining to you why this makes no difference.

But maybe you can tell me how many output shafts there are from a gearbox that is on a 2 wheel drive car versus a four-wheel-drive car, or tell me how many 2 wheel drive cars have the same engine and gearbox as my L322.

When you have done that then you might want to come back here and admit that your comment is just another ridiculous statement.

Actually that is the perfect description of everyone here, when I responded to their technical comments with facts as to why their technical comments were not relevant.

I was accused of not appreciating the help that they were giving me, when they were not giving me any help, they were just being hysterical about things that were irrelevant.

There is only 1 output shaft from any gearbox.
They change to 4wd drive with that fancy thing called a transfer box.
There are many auto boxes used in 2 or 4 wd format.

Your arguments show you shouldn’t be allowed to pickup a spanner.

Oh no, the bolts that can handle the maximum output of my engine while towing more than the entire weight of my engine will not be able to handle driving at a low RPM with a car that is not towing anything.

That is actually a technical response.

Please just let it go, this is exhausting.

Oh I know the answer to this question, I am asking the other person to look it up because they don't know the answer and that shows their lack of understanding, not mine.

The point is that it doesn't matter if the example is a 2 wheel drive car or a four-wheel-drive car because for the engine and gearbox there is only one output shaft and therefore it is an identical situation (hint that is a technical answer).

In another thread I am talking about fixing an oil leak on my transfer case between the transfer case actuator and the case, so clearly I know what a transfer case is.
