What does your rear diff look like? Does it have a convetional looking diff pan bolted on the rear?

Because this is the only difference I can see in major design change although it appears to use the same bolts to fix in place, which tells me the rear subframes are the same for that part.

The 2 different designs may use different drive shafts. we know they did, but as yours is a V8 they may have used the same 1s.

The fronts all seem to have the same fixing points down to having the same O ring between diff and sump. Some of the bolts are different lengths (longer for your proposed change).

And again drives shafts are unknown at this time.

This is what I have found, but beware I dont know how true any of that info is.

So the rest is up to you now isnt it, I have already said what I would do, which was get the 2 side by side (in person best) and give them a dam good coat of looking at before even touching a bolt.

Your guess at £100 each to me sounds low, and I wish you luck doing it on the drive.

Please don't waste my time, I already got the answers to all of this, maybe three days ago, and I'm not interested in telling anybody here how this works out.

The question regarding the possibility of this working has been answered twice, on another forum, and the probability of the diff fitting has been answered here, once.

I am only here now to reply to direct insults and pathetic gotcha questions.

The fact that so few people have done it proves it. (So far one person that knew one other person who'd done it. According to OP, and as he knows EVERYTHING then this must be true.)

Just hoping that if he does it, or doesn't but still makes the trip, that he doesn't accidentally go up my road, notice the landies, of which there are a lot, (3 out of 4 houses including mine), and stop off for a "chat".

Actually, on another forum someone said they had done this to three cars and it worked out great for them on all of those cars.

And someone knew someone who did this on a car and it worked out great.

So that is four cars out of four that it has worked on, and that is only the people who have commented there, not the population of the entire world.

Now, can I find any comments on this forum anywhere where this idea didn't work out?

Oh wait, if someone hasn't already asked and answer a question on these forums then the idea is automatically bad.

Which means that these forums are now useless going forward because every answer to every question is already here.

So why are you idiots here if there is nothing new that can ever be asked or answered?

I am not laughing at you because you gave me valuable information.

I literally only glance at this forum for five minutes a few times a day, to see if those guys have finally shut up, or if they are still insulting me based on nothing.

I use voice dictation to type these comments which I can do whilst doing something else at the same time.

And the comments practically write themselves, like someone saying that if the answer isn't already on this forum then the idea is a bad idea.

Talk about hubris and stupidity at the same time, to think that no idea could ever be talked about here that they haven't already seen and discussed.

Of course it's easy to respond to such a stupid arrogant comment.

On another forum 9/10 people have only given me valuable information, and it is a stark contrast to this place.

So I barely comment on the other place, because it's not funny there.

Given that I only respond to people here, who attack me with their stupidity, and have been doing that for 90% of the discussion, you have to ask yourself who is the problem?

Think about that, if no one continued to insult me here I would never respond again.

But they just can't help themselves, just like they did from the very first day.

And like I have seen them do to other people which is why I rarely ask questions here.

I was trying to iron out some of the problems you may face when/if you do this change, to maybe help. And thats the thanks I get.

No you havent had 100% confirmation it can be done.
It has be voiced on here that it could possibly work. Phill said he didnt know but was a maybe, and you heard it from a friend that said a friend did something similar .

As it happens I am retired and find that when its hot outside when working, I come and see if I can help. You can see I am under UK retirement age. and certainly dont live in a country that would provide a living sitting on my arse.
So your assumptions are false, for me, and many others here.

You may think you are clever in taking the **** and laughing at us here. but you need to be mindfull that many here frequent many sites for LRs. Your attitude will not go unnoticed on other forums.

The information here is available by searching previous articles.

Any new questions will be attacked for being stupid even when it is not.

So I will not waste my time asking any new questions here, but I still have access to all of the previous knowledge on here.

Maybe other people are in my camp where they have the same view of this place that I do and do not have a problem with me responding to the idiots and insults.

I was not making an assumption about anyone here, I was responding to a ridiculous insult directed at me.

99% of what I have posted here is just responding to direct personal attacks.

Please understand this fact, that the only reason this discussion has continued this long is because of the number of people that continue to attack me personally with stupid irrelevant comments.

Like someone saying that because I work for myself I must be difficult to get along with.

In my work I have clients that I have had for more than 25 years because they appreciate my honesty and intelligence.

I save them money by telling them when they are being stupid and when I am then proven right they realize that I am helping them.

This is what builds a lasting client relationship.

But someone here wanted to insult me personally about my job so I responded.

I only respond because people are coming here continuing to talk crap trying to sound smart when they are not.

If it helps you, I already have the answer to my question and I am not here any more to discuss that and never will.

Just so you are clear, I will never talk about the technical question that I asked here again.

So while you might think you are helping me by discussing things that I already know, I have no interest in that.

I already did a visual inspection of both differentials on the website gentlemen of salvage who have multiple photos of each differential from different angles.

I already explained here that I had done that.

They look identical and also Blob said that the part numbers are identical.

That is enough for me to invest in the idea if there are no obvious technical reasons why it will definitely not work.

No one has given me a definite reason why it would not work, they have only given me ridiculous extreme conjecture about things that would not happen within the working range of my engine and gearbox.

I have responded to each of these conjectures with facts and I have been attacked for doing so, for not listening to their completely ridiculous conjectures.

This is where the problem started, people said ridiculous things and I didn't accept them, and I responded with facts.

For example my gearbox will not go into fifth gear, except I can just manually put it into fifth gear, and I will be going at 20 mph beyond the speed where it automatically changes into fifth gear without being told to do that.

These facts mean that the fear that it won't go into fifth gear is completely ridiculous.

But when I explained this to people they kept coming back telling me that I wasn't listening to the help that I was getting here from the knowledgeable people with more mechanical understanding than me.

If those people had just said, "you are right" then this would've been a one page thread, but instead they got really upset with me.

So here we are heading towards 400 comments because they could not handle the situation where I had facts to dispute their hysterical conjectures based on nothing.

Because of this ridiculous situation I gave up giving facts here about my car a long time ago and now I just respond to gotcha questions and direct personal insults.
