My crazy diff ratio change idea

Yes I know that because you said it before, but it was a simple question given the amount of work involved. No "gotcha" content included.
But in your question you did not mention working on the street, which suggests that you didn't know that.

I did not say that it was a gotcha question, I said that you can now ask a gotcha question based on this new information.

Often you guys ask me a harmless question, then follow it up with a gotcha question based on my answer to the harmless question.

Yes but I already got it somewhere else first so I did not need your answer.

But let's assume that you and blob are the two people who gave me information here, then it is probably 300 comments of insults and useless advice and two good comments.

I don't know anyone who has a win to lose ratio of 2/300 that thinks they are worthwhile.

But let us look a little bit deeper, Blob only confirmed something that I already suspected from looking at photographs online.

If the speedometer was affected it wouldn't have bothered me anyway which I mentioned in my initial question.

So neither of you actually helped me to any great degree with the underlining question.

But hey I will give you the credit for 2/300.
Funny, your response was "I did not know that", so it's unlikely that you already knew . Never one to admit you have been helped.

Exactly 10 mins earlier it appears !!
Well I looked at the other forum first, and if I had looked at this one first then this would've been the place where I got the information.

Now 600 comments later this is the best that you can talk about?

I already gave the other guy the win, so you guys are now 2 useful comments and 300 useless comments, so celebrate that.

That is not what I said at all, as you can see in the attached image.

I thanked you for that important advice because I was being polite, and I didn't see any reason to say that I had already got the information elsewhere so your answer didn't help me.

What is the failed gotcha questions and comments ratio now, 0/70?

I have looked at this and this has been discussed multiple times already on this forum and on another, but to save you looking for it the summary is that it is not a problem.

It is not a problem because I am not towing, I am not loading the car up with 5 people and their gear, and I am not regularly moving off from a standstill up steep hills.

In the worst case scenario if I need to start driving from standstill up a steep hill, I can select the low range in my transfer case for that rare situation, and then put it back into normal range after 10 seconds.

Just so you understand, your question implies that I am about as dumb as a human being could possibly be.

To not consider what would happen in first gear with this differential change, that would be really dumb.

You didn't ask me if I had considered it, you told me to consider it with the implication that you were giving me new information that I had not considered.

It is this kind of patronizing arrogant comment that I really don't appreciate.

Ask someone if they know something, do not assume that they do not know it, otherwise you are just being arrogant.

Also if you actually looked at this thread you would see that I had already considered almost everything that was suggested to me, making it clear that I am not an idiot and I have thought this through.
pulling away in first is very relevant even when not towing your 1st gear will fall roughly were my 2nd gear is according to your figers and starting in second gear is what destroys the centre bearing on my prop, oh and ive not changed any mountings

Like a fish taking the bait LOL.

Why do you regularly start in second gear?

How do you know that starting in second gear on a manual gearbox is the same as starting in second gear on an automatic gearbox?

My new first gear will be roughly where my current second gear is, and my car does not struggle to pull away in second gear.

You mean you were wrong and you call that taking the bait?

About half the comments here are someone saying something that I never said and attacking me for it, and when I prove them wrong they shut up, wait a few hours, then make a new attack about something else.

While this strategy has failed every single time, none of you have ever admitted to saying something that was wrong.

Actually Henry this is the moment where you realize that you were wrong and you man up and admit that you were wrong.

I said "The ZF5HP24 is a robust gearbox without any MAJOR known issues, and is not the WEAK POINT of my system, so I do not care if it is put under slightly more stress."

Unless you can name several major problems that would make my ZF5HP the weak point of my system I suggest that you reattach your testicles and admit that you were wrong.
Torque converter lockup clutch problems, very common.
F clutch failure
Broken clutch drums
regulator issues within the valvebody.

all are major issues and quite common.

Actually if you looked into it a bit further, they are not quite common, it is just that people only post problems on Range Rover forums, they don't post when everything is OK.

See the attached images.

Also it is believed that these problems often occur when people do not ever change the transmission fluid due to the "sealed for life" fiasco on these transmissions.

The previous owner has done a fluid change at least once on my gearbox, and I have done it twice, with the correct fluid.

The previous owner's fluid looked great, just darker than new fluid, and there was nothing significant on the sump magnets.

Since changing the fluid twice on my gearbox it runs perfectly without any shudder in any gear and it is silky smooth.

This is getting boring...

Not quite right, i'm afraid.

Jaguar BMW audi all had issues with the gearbox, it's a weak transmission..

I recently finished fixing a leak on the gearbox and replacing all the brake pipes as they were rusted, and recently fixed a broke drive shaft, and replacing the brake shoes and next I am fixing a transfer case leak.

I have done a lot of other things on the car but I can't be bothered listing them.

But if you knew anything about replacing the differentials, it is a monkey's job, requiring no intellect, just time and effort.

Yup what youve done is very basic landy maintenance you sound like a youtube mechainc 🤣 🤣

Youve won a hat & a balloon for your efforts.

your car is an auto it always starts in 1st, which will work out were my second is if you change the diffs, all of the ratios are available if looked up, and the reason i used to start in second(not any more) is because my first is lower than the autobox first and it saved a gear change untill i realised why the prop bearing was giving up

I just made up that line to tease you LOL.

Except in real life where real transmission experts and real people have no problems with these transmissions for years.

You just saying something does not make it true and since you have not provided any information as to how often these problems occur I am not interested in your opinion.

But going back to my original comment that you attacked, it is not the weak point of my situation with my specific car, and nothing that you have said proves differently.

Another personal attack, but nothing to do with my initial question, proving my point that here we are 32 pages deep and 31 pages of those are just empty personal attacks.
