Yes plse as would be good for such an expert to have a look

Will send u a pm mate and bless u as very grateful

Funny enough I did wonder that about the weld , seeing these tack welds makes me believe of them just putting a narrower sill plate on

Thks again mate
It always looks worse when you start a job like that Gary, but as the old rusty metal is cut away and new metal is let in, it's a great feeling.

As always, the help and advice from the forum is fantastic (and a bit of friendly pee taking) and you will have your lovely Disco back on the road soon.

Hi mate, sorry to see/ hear about the metal worm problems 😢. I can't believe for vehicles that aren't cheap to buy new LR, knowing what these type of use vehicles will potentially be used for, they couldn't go a bit further with rust prevention D1's body/D2's chassis/ D3&4's with what you're suffering.
My mate loves his later Rangie and spends thousands on it, it looks stunning but almost monthly, something else needs replacement or fixed.
I aways say that, for the money these things cost, they should last longer than they do.
I had an old Nissan Terrano which didn't let us down, or drip oil, for the 10 plus years we had it.

I know you buy into the brand and all that, but they should be better put together.
With the way they either rust away or the fragile engines break down, it's amazing JLR still sell anything

Many thks as always for the awesome support and help , of course the pee taking is standard here , lol

Noticed more and more report of rusty sills are coming up, along with water ingress to the cabins fuse box from sunroof drains

Side steps becoming water traps for the sills, also the rear wheel arch rusting out

Suppose things like this should be expected for a 20 x years old motor

Indeed would like to see a modern landy in 20 x Years time as I expect the electrics will start to fail seeing there’s so much of it

Ie, cabin displays and endless modules dotted throughout the vehicle

Am impressed with the chassis on the d3 seeing there’s no rust , don’t know if that’s down to the dinitrol that was injected and sprayed onto the chassis and underside , the rust seems to stop in its tracks as it gets nearer to the treatment areas

At least jlr have made improvements from the d1/2 leading to the d3/4 of hoe they’ve reduced the rust

Haven’t seen any drain holes on the sills, did fit the rock sliders, sprayed inside and out and drilled some drain holes, inside still looks like new

Does seem the more plastic trim parts there are the more chance of rust issues as they trap mud, leaves etc

Plus there’s the factor of what other motor serves my needs, for comfort , room and ease of driving on the motorway as it eats the miles effortlessly

Fingers crossed it can be repaired and will of course update u

Thks agin and have a great Sunday

Hi mate still waiting to speak to Howard about available panels it occurred to me after our conversation why not do all work at my workshop sometime when weather warms up, could do all jobs, mot and drive it home, as you know I have a mig, just need a bit of time to clear up a couple of projects, and you can have use of workshop and myself foc mate cant see you pay all that money I also have a machine shop down the road they can cut any shape and bend from a template so can make any patch needed
As you also know I have played some ridiculous prices for Last couple of D4s if your interested in future will do you a project at cost, I know something black 8 speed black leather with electrical or suspension issues no worries lol looking out for you
all the best mate
