Snot!

waiting for my Schutz to turn up and the weather to get warmerer.
Talking of which...................

an idea - to warm up waxoil - how about using an old immersion heater element in a bucket - or an old kettle with the top cut off.

That reminds me, I've got a can of Waxoyl and high pressure sprayer (new) kicking around I no longer need that I should get advertised in the local rag, and me tools come to think of it...

well i've called it a day oh what fun!!!

I havent even removed the dam sill yet lol.

What a learning curv.... from what i have done about 3 hours should be saved just on removing the bolts lol

well i've managed to get most of the spot welds i carn't get to some as half are covered with another sheet of metal, im gonna guess its the previous owners handy work,

The outer sills are in pretty good nick just a few areas to patch thats all.

im gonna grind down whats left and then im on to the welding lol..

Oh and Thanks for all the advice while i was under the landy it was appreciated ... it actually proved handy the wife being on here lol.

Oh and one more note i've actually enjoyed working on her so much so the missis has said she might get me a old defender to restore :)))) and learn on! :)

Well done, I had my outer sills replaced last year by a local radiator/welding co.
(I chickened out after buying a welder).

But if it fails again this year on welding i'm going to have a go myself.

:nopics:
:D good on ya wappy ;) it's good to see somebody keeping a good motor out of the crusher, i've spent ages under me rangie and still got a long way to go, plenty of people wonder why i've bothered but the newuns are for nancy boys and i like my old v8 so i figured a bit of blood and sweat spent now will keep her good for a few years to come. getting all the spot welds out can be a real arse  as mentioned before make sure you get rid of as much rot as poss coz it comes back and will ruin your work in no time at all if you leave it in there ;)

Fristrated is not the word lol

Im giving it a five min break as its freezing and snowing..

I have the sill off and i've cleaned it up BUT i've now put the replacment sill in BUT i can't get the bushes in as they are too thick any suggestions for sorting these out to fit these in.

Regards

Wappy

Bushes or polybushes.?? soapy water helps as well as a nut and bolt and a large socket or thick washer thru the centre and tightened up so it draws the bush into the housing.

Put a long bolt thru the hole with a socket or something similar on the other side of the hole to prevent the bolt from coming thru the hole

place bush over bolt place washer or similar and put nut on bolt

Tighten nut so that bush is pressed into hole use a flat screwdriver or similar to push the leading edge of the bush into the hole keep tightening until bush is fully inserted.

The things you do for your landy!

i've got then on but it wasn't till 4pm and the snow was getting a little too much..

I have one question,, yes another one!

Would it matter if i put the bolt in upside down?

Eg rather than having the head at the top and the nut at the bottom just doing it the other way arround? (could this fail a MOT?)

i say this as i mentioned earlier getting the bolt out was quiet hard getting it back in is even harder lol...

ohh me in the the snow :) for a pic lol well i say snow
