Good evening all
I have had the common M&S lights flashing
no gear indicator on the dash display
so after reading through the posts here I removed my XYZ switch and opened it up
There was a dirty patch on one of the contacts which i cleaned with 2000 grit wet and dry
no signs of damp or Arching contacts.
then refitted the switch hoping for no M&S flashing
but it still does
I also followed the wiring loom through the switch and checked it for continuity and all appeared to be good
so Borrowed Nanocom (NANOCOM1) and read the inputs from the BCU
it would appear that the BCU is reading a signal from the XYZ switch
when changing through the gears the individual readings change from OFF to ON
which tells me the contacts are making the required circuit.
and unless I'm looking in the wrong place there are no faults stored on the ECU
but as expected the car will only actually select D and R
can anyone help with further diagnosis please ?
Also when reading the BCU through NANOCOM the rest of the car does some weird stuff
windows don't work
fuel gauge shows empty with the warning light on (tank is full)
speedo doesn't work
rev counter doesn't work
indicators don't work
low beam headlights come on
there may be other things ,that's just what i spotted
IN ADDITION I've just been out to check that when reverse is selected the reverse lights work and the rear wash wipe comes on as it should, and both work correctly when reverse is selected
