bnut you would probably have to exchange the VCU with a shaft, else you'd end up toasting it wouldnt you, if it was handeling ALL the drive all the time
If you split the driveshaft CV joints and leave the splined part (cup) in the gearbox, then no oil would leak. The front driveshafts would simply spin and the IRD theoretically would send the power through the VCU to the rear diff and then rear wheels.

shirley if yer got opposite lock on you have oversteer and not understeer. and if yer instantly going from full power to no power and back again yule be asking fer trouble..if you have enough power that isGoing mondo mode is great fun, LR said the FL didnt handle when in 2wd. Nonsense! if you have too much power on the FL will let you exactly what understeer is happening at the front.
Certainly for the petrol version, power is very responsive, so instantly take power off then on again if needs must. This will surely get you out of any tricky situation.
Same for the 4wd mode either full power on or full power off, along with reverse lock on the steering to control sideways action.
