Hi guys,

thought you might be interested in my lovely 1997 Disco 1 ES7 V8 Auto in Biarritz(later Tahiti) blue with grey leather. now done 73000 miles

was imported from Japan in 2007 and is in mint condition - I bought it last year with a slipped cylinder liner and have done loads of work to bring mechanical condition up to the standard of the rest of the car.

I had a new Turner top-hat 3.9 engine with Kent H180 torque cam
Skim and polish heads
Tornado chip, ACT trumpets and K&N intake
Full stainless manifolds/exhaust
new De Carbon shocks, uprated springs and track rod ends.
Aircon overhauled.
Full service(diff oils etc etc)

Now looks and sounds fantastic - handles well and goes like a 4.6.

been great in the winter whilst my defender is being rebuilt(see thread in V8 section - chevy 6.3 monster.

It really has made me understand what a ground-breaking and great car the original disco was.

Nice disco.

Where's the pic of the beast under that bonnet

Jamo - nothing to see I am afraid, apart from a standard 3.9 hotwire engine.

cam is hidden, carbon trumpets under plenum, tornado inside ecu etc - you can't even see the lovely stainless branched headers cos I wrapped them in heat-wrap - have to say the engine bay does stay cool.

All is not lost however - the lovely stainless tailpipe can be seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup it can be read as a "for sale" ad, or this my motor, Dude. :)

Hi Fellas

sorry about the ambiguity in the post

Not actually for sale as we communicate but..................................

it will be in a couple of weeks when the Keswick Beast is complete, MOT'd and back on the road.

Difficult to know what to ask for it - owes me over 6 grand in all but obviously worth nowhere near that.

Advice on that one appreciated - it is a lovely car and I want it to go to someone who will appreciate it, but also give me a fair price considering all it has had done.

It has LPG as well with underslung tanks which i forget to mention in my original post.

BTW I have put my mates V8 90 on here in the relevant FS section - he does not own a tinternet - the red one with the khaki tilt.

It's worth what someone will pay, but if it really is a blinder then aim high, theres far too many half ####ed old discos around and far too many troublesome new ones too, so yours could be the perfect balance, but for that the buyer will need ££££.

best o' luck anyway :)

fuel consumption not a problem - works out about 25mpg on LPG - better than my wife's turbocharged Audi.

at a steady 80 that goes up to over 30

on 98 it does about 18-20 overall and 25 on a cruise - one of the benefits of the Tornado chip is that it leans out the fuelling at steady revs so you see a real benefit - it also cranks over for 2 seconds before firing from cold so you have oil pressure straight away and there are several other little things(slight raise in idle speed on auto so it doesn't 'hunt' so much)

On the standard land rover ecu map there is a flat spot in the torque curve at about 2500 rpm which is a result of being programmed for various fuel grades - the Tornado also eliminates this.

it also auto-adjusts for LPG.

Those of you in for the long-haul should have one fitted - it will take a while to see the benefit in cash terms(400 pounds plus half an hour to fit) but you see the benefits in driveability straight away.

I was a bit sceptical when I had the first one done on my 4.5 chimaera - but afterwards -wow!

Every hotwire car I have had has since had one fitted(several TVR's and a couple of LR's.)

Hey fellas

Now that the worst of the winter is over and the 6.3 90 is nearly ready I would like to announce that all serious offers on the beautiful blue disco of over 3500 pounds will be considered..........................................it really is one of the nicest ones left and the V8 engine with top-hat liners is guaranteed by Turner Engineering until september 2015 - this cost over 2500 pounds on its own.

Will be available from middle of next week

Drop me a line to discuss
