Or stick with LR/RR but go for an earlier model, later models = greater complication = more to go wrong = greater expense.
Sadly you are right, the brand's reliability record is appalling considering the showroom price, only coveted by those seeking a status symbol. I've never owned (or desired) one so cannot comment as to whether or not they are overrated, but they are certainly overpriced.
The brand has long since lost it's way, but JLR can sell every one they produce so why should they care ?
Salesmen love to say 'a lot of car for the money' but that quote is reversed when things go wrong outside the warranty period

Agree completely - Only issue is that "one" usually needs to know how to weld ;) ......

Ignition sensor is now done. Hopefully. Drilled a hole in the column and sprayed that little bugger with lots of wd40. Seems to have done the trick. So far.
Transmission fluid changed a couple of weeks back.

Contact cleaner is better than water displacer. Not pricey. Wd40 is like the work of Satan, developed in project paper clip (nasa) , then sold as a wonder chemical.

For instance, removes chewing gum from clothes, but will ruin your clothes worse than chewing gum in the process o_O

It is good for early morning winter starts on a distributor cap. But who uses one of them ;)
Better than nothing, but not particularly brilliant at anything.
Seized bolts or whatever try Plusgas instead... you will never use WD again, is that good.
