hi ratty, yes you are correct it is 32 mm.
well what can i say where do i start, called into see tigger tonight with my spare dizzy for him to look at,his disco is purring like a sewing machine (part from exhaust manifold chuffing a bit) now the real question is how much air can pass through a concrete block and what cooling effect would it have as his rad is doing a ferkin good impresion of one:doh: more dirt in the fins of that than in the house of commons expense book......If it's only doing it under load my money is still on the radiator being at fault. Have you taken it out and checked it yet?

no probs mate and thanks for not ripping the p.ss about the saxoyeah so I feel a bit daft.. was getting confused between blocked rad and dirty rad in my head.. but I know what I'm looking at now so will pop to halfrauds for spanner tomorrow and take the rad out on Sat for some tlc.. gonna do the oil change as well then..
test drive Sunday and will update you then... proper test drive on Wednesday when I have to drive to Manchester.. otherwise I'll end up having to take the work prius.. ewwww
thanks for popping over Jim.. good to have a second pair of ears on the lump.. but I'm still gonna invest in a timing lamp and keep working on that timing.. wanna get it perfick.. and they really aren't that expensive on fleabay anyway... and I'm sure I will have reason to buy it again..
and as the ex reminded me while Jim was here once the discovery's fixed I have an alfa head to remove... joy of joys...
yeah so I feel a bit daft..

ere tigger, you know i live in manchester so dont forget your passport, else you might not get in.very carefull bout things like that up here.
Are you sure the rad aint blocked.....
......Can you see through the fins clearly? My money is on fecked rad.
well I wish I'd taken that bet...
thanks again to all .. Boomer on the phone tonight and getting the rad off and cleaned out was discussed however....
thermostat in a pan of water and no movement until the water boiled.. so thermostat left out for run to Kernow in the AM and everything crossed... have had a run out in it tonight and temp doesn't rise above normal until I keep it at about 4000 revs.. which I wont be doing with the caravan on the back.. so although still everything crossed and still have to get that timing sorted I am ready to trust it for the drive..
