I'd be using a flap disc on those rust patches...
naw no PM, yeah drill is only 600 watts. I got a perfomance 1050 watt one from few years back, but I somehow moulded the keyless chuck part and cant change my drill parts lol. I got mould grips on it once, but its fused again and there is no budging it!
Take off the chuck and see if it still trips, if not - just buy a new chuck for a tenner...
btw, to get the chuck off you need to unscrew the pozi screw inside the chuck (where you'd normally put the drill bit!)

didn't i just say that, worth noting that the screw is left hand threaqd and chuck is right hand
