I was made curious by the fact that the reversed fitting was on my motor, and also on the Slikshift fitting video. Probably just coincidence.
Anyway Coffeelandy, you saved me from going off in a massive sulk. I might do it anyway, nothing like a good lip-curling sulk

Changing the gear lever housing due to wear in the slots. I found the spring loaded nylon pad was on the side of the bias spring roll pin. In the workshop manual section 37 page 18 it says to ensure the pad is fitted on the opposite side.
Did the previous guy know something I don't, or was he wrong? And does it really matter?
