Flashlube will slow down valve seat recession. Maybe out of date info but if your insurer requires an installation cert, RPI are not members of any industry accreditation body which ensures fitting in accordance with current LPG code of practice / construction & use regs . Doubt they will point this out at any stage.

Plenty of stuff on the web about problems on the Ford/Jag engine with LPG.
To me, it would represent a big gamble, one I wouldn't take. If I wanted to run a gas guzzling V8 petrol, I would pay the price of petrol.
Interestingly, while petrol prices have dropped a lot over here LPG has not dropped at all.

Again, beware of what's what. The UKLPG mob would have you believe that they are agents of the Regulator. They are not, they are a "trade association" who are trying to do a commercial stitch-up, and many installers will, quite rightly, have nothing to do with them.
"Trade Associations" are dreampt up by exploitative ***** to avoid actual work and annoy the **** out of me when they convince insurers and suchlike that they own the rights, so to speak.
My personal annoyance with the UKLPG mob is that two of their members took a look at the installation in my RR, declared it dangerous and tried to sell me a complete new system - and then said that I could not possibly be competent to argue with them because they had done the course and were members of the (very expensive but not particularly technically rigorous to belong to) UKLPG.
Just saying.

It really depends on your usage. I've been pondering this exact question since I got mine, and having had it a year I now know roughly how many miles I'll be doing. Based on my 2000 miles a year, the saving is about £175 a year so if you are going to pay someone to fit you'll be looking at another 10 years to get your money back if you only use it as a toy.
Payback on a self fit 2nd hand kit is bearable but getting it properly set up and certified is an issue if your insurance requires it. As mine is primarily used for towing a 1800 kg caravan correct set up is important, good set up, Magnecor leads and really expensive plugs are best for reliability which all adds to the payback time. For me personally the costs and possibilities mean sticking with petrol for the foreseeable future.

l bought mine 13 months ago had it converted 12 months ago by a so called professional who knew as much about lpg as l did about nuclear infusion which is f@@k all it run awful when it came back took it to france with the wobble box on that was a night mare. so took it back he said the engine was gossed l told him he chat **** and the fur flew so brought it home took the k& n filter off fitted a proper range rover filter box which made it 50% better then purchased a elm bluetooth adaptor android app on phone reset fuel trims hey presto goes like a excerset missile doing about 15 mpg thats 75% motorway with the pedal buried in the footwell been to belguim twice with the wobble box no probs. l do about 300 miles a week and l love it so its all down to who fits it reali mines a nevo good installation tho. l wouldnt part with it

Here - try one of these - let us know how you get on. I've heard good things. It's like an SU or Zenith carb for LPG.

If you buy your DIY kit from a reputable supplier, not only will they inspect and certify it when you've fitted it, they'll also tell you how to fit it to keep within the regs.

There's a guy in Yorkshire who is really helpful and does exactly that... still nearly a grand for the kit though. If you are competent self fit is definitely the way but if you aren't doing many miles then it's just not worth it.

I use a P38 for my daily drive of 52 miles. I bought it with the conversion done already and it has been excellent, LPG is currently a low as 45p up here at the moment.
I have a Turner engine in mine that has had their liners fitted, I have done 30,000 miles since the engine was replaced and it runs just fine.
I can highly recommend it.
I also bought a set of cables that cover most LPG systems along with the software for about £80 on eBay.
