hi all i had a leak coming through the window hinge/fixing, i have manged to locate new gasgets for this, but i have noticed that the lower rubber between the screen and the bulkhead is very badly worn, i want to replace it, has anyone done this. is it just a case of removing both hinges and lift up slightly to replace the rubber? defender 90 1992 not a fold down window hope someone can help

Thanks for that i have managed to buy one today and will get it soon, what i realy need to know is how to fit it, im hopeing it will be straightforward someone must have fitted one

oh ok. well the front headlining needs to come out to undo the bolts holding the screen to the roof. support the roof up and away from the screen, undo the windscreen hindge bolt and it should be a case of tilting the screen forward .

If the bulkhead is the same as the early 110 the windscreen frame will need to be lifted half an inch or so to clear 4 locating spikes which stick up. Just remember things are never straight forward:rolleyes:

just had a look at the roof lining looks like it may be a problem itself as i'm heavy handed any pointers on getting it down would be helpful

just remove the dowels holding the headlining in place. If you break them (which is quite easy to do) get some more they are only pennies to replace anyway.

Another option would be to losen the bolts holding the roof and sides to the tub. Then ye can remove the windscreen brackets and ease the lot up. A bit like this, just enough tae get at the seal....

.......or ye could just fill it with some black sealant;):D

hi all managed to fit the lower rubber, after i noticed that the frame did not close down enought so i had to take it back out and put a bead of mastic on top off the rubber and refit it, seems to have worked as its dry inside after the down pour we just had the only problem i have now is the roof lining the outer cover is coming away from the card is there anything that can be done to repair it a special glue maybe, or will i need a new one
