So, given that changing the length of the wastegate actuator doesn't seem to make a difference in terms f boost, where from I go from here?
As the management was ruled out it's hard to tell, seems that there is not enough pressure to open the wastegate at all. Did you check if the wastegate is not stuck open?...if it moves like in the video i posted then you have to check if the turbo cartridge is not worn and measure the fuel pressure with a gauge inserted instead of the FT sensor in the FPR... or it's possible that the injectors are not working well but you can't check that other way than sending them to specialist unless they are not adjusted well to the rocker shaft and they dont go to full stroke

Yes, wastegate slides in and back out as expected.

Turbo-Cartridge? I guess we're now entering uncharted territory for me.

I guess if we're now talking about sending injectors away it might as well go into my local garage (he specialises in LR and has for forty years, so pretty trustworthy).

Pity, I was hoping in vain that it may have been a little less complex an issue.

maybe, even though if the air filter is not clogged i dont see what other issue can be there... it's enough to undo the hose from the MAF sensor to let air directly in it but i doubt it's that
Ah, I hadn't registered that you'd suggested splitting it at the maf sensor. Apolologies.

What am I looking for when I do this? Better boost or no change?
Yes

Just remembered that something cheap and easy to be ruled out is the depression control valve even though it usually creates other issues but if you know it's old better replace it cos no way to check if it works well under load or not, it's on the intake hose before the turbo, 3 minute job, google out LLN100140 and you'll see what's about

Great, I'm on it!

I noticed oil by the turbo 'oil feed' pipe close to the centrifugal oil filter around the banjo bolt, is that standard? Its not anything like a major leak, but it is there...

It happens if somebody worked there and reused the copper washers at the banjo... not a good thing but it doesnt affect the boost

@sierrafery ...re' the depression control valve, I have seen a couple of videos when people had blocked that off completely on the premise that the breather will access 'clean' air rather than recycled...I haven't done that; but I am curious how the valve works and how it may contribute to my boost issues?

IMO those guys have not much ideea about it's purpose then cos it's not about accessing any air but about crankase gas emmision, if an oil catch can is fitted it has it's own DCV only then te original can be blanked... excessive depression in the crankcase under load if it's stuck open or backpressure if closed is bad for the engine's behaviour not directly related with boost but can be a factor...or not

" The breather valve is a depression limiting valve which progressively closes as engine speed increases, thereby
limiting the depression in the crankcase "

Got a day off, so typically been roped into taking a shed load of mud grids to the stables for my Minister for War and Finance! Will get some time on the Landy later, if I hide somewhere in the garage! :vb-stilletto:

She's worth it tho!

@sierrafery @boguing

Busy couple of days, but I took her out yesterday after disconnecting inlet at MAF sensor - no change really - apart from sounding like a boy racer with a dump valve...."...pshhhhh..." 🤣

Depression Valve should arrive today...

@sierrafery @boguing

Just been out after fitting the new depression valve - Nano Log below - at first glance it looks better, though I bow to your experience. Felt better too and certainly had more balls going up the hill to the farm. Got up to nearly 70mph but STILL feels like its lacking something....what do you guys think?

Definitely better than before as this time i've seen 234MAP with 95AAP once(that was the best) but a few were close and that's 1.39 Bar boost .... tighten the wastegate rod and if it goes to overboost then it's OK.... what dimension tyres you have on?

235/35R Continentals on currently - I put BFG's on my Disco and plan on doing the same to the 110.

I meant to say that the Nanocom was reporting 'Overboost' before I turned the wastegate threads out a couple of turns - will turn it back a turn and try that.

Interesting that I never experienced 'Limp Mode' when it was overboosting(?)
