I have just bought my first freelander and have noticed there is a constent whinning from below i was thinking it was a wheel bearing but it does,nt get any noiser when i turn into a bend the way a wheel bearing does. as soon as i start to move the noise comes into it an just stays the seem no matter how fast you drive i was wondering could it be the bearings on the propshaft i would be realy greatful for any help on the matter.

i have just had a look at the diff and i have noticed on the 2 diff mounts have like a round rubber weight well i think its rubber on one of them its just hanging there it feels heavy it makes me think its some kind of weight which is attached to the diff mount any suggestions ?

The bearings either side of the vcu sit in rubber, within the metal bracket.

Some models have a damper fitted next to the vcu. This can come loose.

thanks for the advice i will get a good look tomorrow and see what its like

thanks hippo & rhodie
