Only just discovered that unless things change from October series Landies and pre 2001 Defenders cannot enter this zone unless they pay £100 per day!!!! OMG

Thanks Red Ken that's terrific

The Zone if you don't know is almost the size of the M25, there is a possible delay to this until Jan 2012 but we will not know whether it's successful until the Autumn

Did you guys know about this?

I am OK with a 2007 Defender but my brother with a 97' Defender will not be able to enter the zone...

Some idiot has apparently classed Defenders as commercial vehicles and even though the Government website states cars and motorcycles are not included Defenders are...genius

my 11mpg v8 110 can avoid it as registered as an "Estate" but our 2000 nissan would be chargable

seem to remember this was pulled a couple of months ago - anyway who the f*** wants to go to London?
went there earlier this year dont think I'll bother again, grubby, to many people, unecessarily expensive, anh wont bother.

I spoke to TFL about my 1981 Series III 88" Diesel as it'd been classified as a commercial vehicle. I said it had windows and 7 seats and was registered with DVLA as PLG. They said I should email them a copy of the V5 and they'll exempt it.
Only applies to diesel engines, if it was a petrol of exactly the same model it'd be classed as a car. How stupid is that.

Bloodyhell.......just had a check, even my 300tdi disco is "non-compliant" after 04/10/2010...

Its been incorrectly registered then, since its a car it should be exempt from LEZ requirements. Unless, its a van (and you're not telling us that!!!)

I spoke to TFL today, they say my Series has been classed as a commercial vehicle based on info from DVLA, so I phoned DVLA who said it isn't it's classed as PLG 4x4 Light Utility, so a car. I've got to email TFL with a copy of my V5.

Tossers haven't got a clue.

from the website: The consultation to defer the date that the Low Emission Zone affects larger vans, minibuses, motor caravans and other specialist vehicles from 4 October 2010 to 3 January 2012 has now closed. A decision by the Mayor on the outcome of the consultation is expected by the autumn

Finally an update from the Mayor - "The Mayor has confirmed the Low Emission Zone will now affect larger vans, minibuses, motor caravans and other specialist vehicles from 3 January 2012. If you have a vehicle which was due to be affected by the LEZ from 4 October 2010, you now have an extra 15 months to take action."
Basically in 15 months you'll be f.cked.

Has anyone actually managed to get DVLA to alter the body type from Light Utility to Estate? I've been trying for the last three months to get them to change the description of my '93 110 Station Wagon and have submitted a copy of the original Land Rover build card along with photos. Their reply was that they will not change the body description as it is recorded correctly. If anyone has managed to get this done can I have your registration number please. If I can get some evidence then I'm going to appeal on the basis that they have done this for other similar vehicles.

If everyone boycotts the area and public transport and sends them a huge petition explaining it then they would have to give in. Buy your shopping and everything from outside of london.

For **** sake, this means I will have to train to my London urban explores! I was always proud to drive to London.

Isn't a Land Rover Defender van or pickup in London, the motoring equivalent of a fish out of water?
