Well, I used my 'new-to-me' P38 for a gig (mobile disco) last night - first since changing from a Discovery a few weeks ago. I have to say that the loadspace is deceptively large and I actually have more room between the rear seats and tailgate than I thought. Height is obviously less, as is width, but the latter only marginally.
The biggest plus however is the ease of switching seats around. Both RR Classics involved a convoluted process of unbolting the seatbelt attachments each time which was a PITA! I eventually fabricated a 'false floor' from plywood and battens of wood but that made headroom very tight. The Discovery was better as the belts just unclipped which was a luxury by comparison, but no comparison to the P38 where the belts go with the seats and the loadspace is flat! Then there's the added bonus of being able to drop the suspension right down...
So thanks Land Rover, goes to show that the 'little touches' don't go unnoticed!
