Hi folks my rangie dse auto. I thaught the in tank pump was dead but its not its working. When driving anything above 2k ends up in a puff of smoke turbo dies and next to no throttle. Then it sits in limp for a while then il get boost and then same story again. Any ideas?

If i sit still in netruel i can hit the limiter then the top hose collapses on its self then no power and missing and full wack then is 3k no more

Need to be looking why turbo hose is being sucked in. There is an obvious restriction somewhere. Maybe hose internal delamination.

Yeh is holds power a bit then the turbo seem to dump an pipe colapses

With the engine turned off does the pipe 'collapse'.
If it doesn't then something is sucking it flat.
Check inside the pipe to make sure that it's not de-laminating resulting in a flap that's restricting the air flow.

(Basically just a longer version of Wammer's post)

It can be squeezed but it sits round normally then when its had a second of boost it just sucks it's self into its self and then smokes from exhaust

Its also started becoming a sod to start cold cranks a bit at 150 rpm then catches no missfire though compared to normal. Hot shes spot on straight on the button.

Glow plugs?
Doubt if it's anything to do with a collapsing turbo pipe.

Possible glow plugs were new 2month ago dealer parts. Would it suck the pipe in like that. I know most folk aint keen on pinging their car off the limiter. But if thers smoke theres too much fuel for the air iv always thaught. I can only guess its collapsing when i lose boost too? Iv tried unplugging no4 injector it gets lumpy i unplug the maf its even worse. I guess they are working . If i take off my fuel line while running diesel pours out so in tank pumps doing its job. Return lines are good its always sometimes hit like a limiter at 75 would go like stink then 75 and die foot off and back on shed go upto whatever onwards

It's not collapsing WHEN you lose boost
It's the pipe collapsing that's causing the lack of boost

Unplugging the MAF won't make the slightest difference, it has very little to do with how the engine runs. You have an airflow restriction somewhere in the inlet tract either to the turbo or after it. Take the pipe off the turbo and make sure it spins freely with no play up/down or in/out. Check all pipes for blockage or internal delamination. Remove turbo pipe from manifold and check that when engine is revved pressure is being made. Above 2000 RPM you should get an hell of a draft coming out of it.

Turbo is kicking in 2000rpm to approx 2600rpm then chirp and smoke and its dying. I can get 3000rpm very light throttle but any demand its phhht n down on power. Sorry ment map not maf it a 96 no egr. It dosent pick up at all with that disconnected. So possible blocked intercooler? Turbo actuator? Turbo its self? Or mabye just as simple as a fubard hose?

Made no difference undoing the pipe to the airbox and leaving it off. even on tick over holding my palm over the pipe to inlet there was pressure. There is a very slight breath of oil mist through it. Since the oil breather is the other side of the turbo i guess air is getting through.

Check and flex the pipe looking for signs of interior damage. Something is stopping the airflow causing the turbo to suck it flat.

If the pipe is collapsing then for the price of a hose it is worth changing it,I would then see what is like then start looking else were
