So I have a 1986 Hardtop Ninety and need to raise the diff off the ground more so I am thinking of doing a 2" lift to then increase the size of the tyres.
Can I just swap out the shocks and dampers for bigger ones or will I need to replace the trailing arms etc as well.
Also after some places that sell cages for it as well. Doesn't have to be a full cage just I case i do roll it over.

Many thanks

You won't need cranked trailing/radius arms for 2" but you'll go through bushes faster and your wheels will return to centre more slowly after turning a corner but not a problem, you'll just get used to it. I have a 2" lift on my Ninety with no other suspension mods, no issues so far.

I'd say just for peace of mind jack it up to full articulation after fitting to make sure your flexi lines aren't being pulled as they might seem fine while on the road and then rip them out while off road. Mine were fine but worth checking!

Suspension lift will make no difference to under-diff clearance whatsoever, only larger tyres or portals can do that.
Don't forget that the higher the entre of gravity the more unstable it will be, add more weight high up (i.e. a cage) and you are increasing it even more.
Do you really really really need to raise it so much?

Thats a handy tip! I wouldn't have thought of jacking it to check 👍

I'm doing the lift to accomadate the larger wheels! And you really really really think 2" is a lot?

Problem with all the mods your car will be taller and thus more unstable than a std 90.
When I used to go to trials, the winner 95 percent of the time was a lady in a bog std 300 90 truck cab with 235 85 tyres, basically she could drive the thing.
