yep as john saysterrafirma's are handed, longer springs on drivers side
im afraid your wrong thereOnly Std height OEM type springs are handed. All HD & extended spriongs are equal heights.
hes right, springs has no o initim afraid your wrong there
I disagree
My Old Man Emu springs were all different heights and were all labelled up so you cant get them wrong.
Just to throw another spanner in the works. I had blue BM springs before the OME's and the longer ones were definitely for the front, so they take the weight of the engine, winch bumper and winch etc etc.
Just double check with the supplier that youve done it right.
When i got my HD springs the longer ones went on the front. I've seen a couple of people do it the wrong way round and the result is similar to how the op's motor looks.
Right I think I'm going to swap front to back and see how that looks. I'll update with the results. Cheers for all the input
The thicker coils go on rear
An thinner ones on front
With the two taller springs on drivers side
Link not work but here's post
Hi
I have just fitted new springs to my 1996 300TDi and noticed that the rear springs had tighter coils at the top, I only noticed this after I had put one in then checked the side I had not changed yet which was standard and original, the standard spring had tighter coils at the top so I had to turn the replacement one around.
I thing it is something to do with a progressive spring action on the spring as I have seen the same on progressive fork springs fitted on my motorcycle.
If the spring is in upside down then the spring will be softer on one side that the other giving it more sag.
Good luck.
PS. And before anyone comments, my Disco was on axle stands with no weight on the axles and springs fully extended.
we fitted the rear terrafirma springs upside down because they dislocate at the axle not at the chassis.I think you may be onto something here. I think I remember the coils being a little closer one end of the spring but I'm not sure which way round I fitted them. I'll double check and see if the tighter part is at the top.
I fitted my hd bm blues and double checked at the time, both sets of springs were equal length respectively and were fitted as boxed front and rear, mine sits high at the rear and its normal, for a start you havent the weight of the roof and rear door on a truck cab mate.
