like most defenders, mine leaks. Normally i am not bothered about this but I am looking at installing some sound insulation and possibly carpet. As this is my only vehicle I would like the interior to be a bit nicer. The water seems to be coming from behind the dash, I have looked at the seals on the vents and they seem to be ok, the only thing that I can think of is that the seal around the windscreen has the usual cracks everywhere. Does anyone think that this is the cause of the leaks or is it coming from anywhere else? P.S please dont mind rape me for asking how to stop a 'fender from leaking :D

I would recommend checking the heater matrix. I do not know whether it works the same way on the fender as it does on a disco but if you find that there is a veritable puddle in the passenger footwell then that might be the problem.

I solved mine by disconnecting the pipe leading to the matrix and looping it back to the pipe that re-enters the block. Of course that then left me with no heater.

They leak in through so many places your best bet is to set up a water sprinkler to make like heavy rain and trace where the water comes in and fix each leak in turn.
I have fixed leaks from the screen seal, the windscreen fram is made in several sections and the leak through the seams, the roof too screen frame joint can leak, the screen too bulkhead seals leak. the door seals leak, the roof joints leak, the vents leak, it can leak in through the heater or the wiring grommets and so on. It can be a very long job I have spent over a week full time to stop some, even new ones still leak.
So be methodical and pin point the leaks and then form a plan of attack.
