Leaking Power Steering

Just added a 110 TD5 to the fleet and after giving it a good service found brown oil in the power steering top up tank

So I got as much out as I could with a syringe and filled it back up with dextron 2 . Within a few days the power steering box starting pishing out oil

Coincidence ?

I can not fooking find where the leaks coming from for the life of me !! It's not the drop arm oil seal & non of the pipes are leaking, can't see if it's the steering rod oil seal. It's leaking onto top of chassis and running down from and back of box! Not just a drip a reight fecking flow.

Already put a cap of brake fluid in

Any ideas ?

I spent 2rs Sunday under/in/over whilst sombod turned the steering from lock to lock and I could'nt find the bastid so I doubt you will spot it from a photo ! -Thanks all the same !

It's either coming from the steering colum shaft oil seal but you can't see it or their is a crack in the caseing somewhere

If its only help I had a similar problem with my 200 tdi recently - took several weeks to finally pinpoint the problem. New steering box was leaking from the bottom of the oil seal where the steering column enters. You couldn't see it from above or below! Process of elimination and had the box replaced under warranty.

Thanks matey ! That's where I suspect it's leaking from but like you say you can't get your head in to see

Never did find out where it was leaking from as since I've thrown a slack hand of brake fluid in it's stopped leaking

I will obviously keep an eye on it

How does brake fluid fix a leak? Got a leak somewhere in mine, and put a couple of bottles of anti-leak steering fluid and it did feck all to stop the leak...

Tis an old trick to breathe a little extra life into tired seals.

Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't
