Reason it's lazy is that I can't be arsed messing about in the pouring rain and wind anymore to figure out the cause of this problem. The rear right tail light is refusing to work. Brake light still works fine. Bulb is fine, as are the connections, bulb holder and wiring. Left tail light and all other lights are a-ok. No problem with fuses. Any ideas?

multimeter and start checking for juice. start at bulb connections, if nothing go to fuse box and make sure it's at both sides of the fuse.

Lot of other ancils run off the same fuse and they're fine. It's just the tail light on one side. I'll dig out the old multimeter and test lamp and see what's going on. Was hoping I wouldn't have to do down that route.

Bumps. Checked as much as I can and I'm still none the wiser. Even swapped light fittings over and made no difference. Not getting anything on the multimeter as far as I can tell and the wiring is near enough inaccessible in that it is completely wrapped up and goes straight into the chassis rail.
Anyone got a good quality wiring diagram for a Defender 300tdi rear lights?

Meh it's looking like a problem with the wiring for that specific light somewhere between the lamp fitting and where the LH tail lamp wire joins it. Bodge and bypass me reckons! Unless I can find an easier way to access the wires

Only got a chance to look at it properly last night. It's right hand tail light.

they still using bullets behind the rear panel?

if so then find the light one, the nearside lamp should be plugged into a 2/3way bullet connector. go shove multi in and see if you have a connection. those connectors can really oxidise

Nope, proper multiplug connectors. Got nothing on the multimeter when I checked it so I'm guessing it's a break in the wire somewhere.

go follow the wire with your hand/eye bending it as you go. i've seen a fair few people scotchlock tow wires in and it corrodes to hell on the split when it's removed

Tried but it's a very tidy, tight install and it hasn't been touched since it left Land Rover (it's a special build for Scottish Power mind). I have traced the wire as best I can though and there's no loose or broken parts that I can see. No scotch blocks in sight thankfully, other than on the front headlamps for some reason

I'll clean the mud and **** off underneath and try and get a better look. It's much more difficult to
clamber under the wheel arch than my old one

can you take a pic of the plugs? just i was sure they were still bullets.. wondering what they look like now :)
