Yeah it turned into a non worker given the time n money i have at my disposal atm.

As Buster has shown the 2 blocks do have differences, between the cam roller/rod appertures, the 19j has a small hole, whereas the 200Tdi has huge caverns compared and these protrude outside the 19j block, this means the gasket has an open area. Yes i could fit a 19J gasket but it's not the only difference.

On the other thread i did asking about the differences i missed a post relating to the headbolts being different in all ways, length, width and type. You can't use one on the other and you can't use the other with the one so to speak.

I still believe it's possible with a little work, but time is running out v.quickly now ( have a job booked for tomorrow night, but that's canx atm ) and it has to be up n running by the weekend.

So i'm biting the bullet and rebuilding the 200Tdi ( with correct block ) and will look into a rebore in the future, as stripping it down won't be that much of an issue.

Anyone close who can drop a engine crane round mine tomorrow gets unlimited coffee

Fugginell, I'd missed all that.

Well, you know the 200 was running (albeit breathing heavy), so with a following wind there's no reason you can't have it going again by the weekend. Good luck!

Cheers mate, yeah i praying i haven't lost summat from the last time i stripped it down lol

btw if you can't see the difference in the 2 blocks:

Engine hoist will be arriving tomorrow :(

Not sure what to get done tonight in prep, might look at separating the gearbox n block so i can get the crank out and start rebuilding the 200 at least.

You'll probably need the engine hoist to get at all the bolts holding the bell-housing to gearbox. General approach is to remove as many as you can get to first, then lift engine, remove engine mounts and lower engine back down onto chassis rails so you can get at the remaining bolts.
Even so, it's worth making sure you can undo as many as possible tonight, along with the engine mountings, earth strap, alternator wiring, and so on (if you haven't already).

Also, have you done anything to the tdi head yet? You can give the valves a bit of grinding and replace the stem seals before it goes back on.
