You are looking for Eg. "28D123456E", we are interested in the first two and the last, i.e. we call this a "28E". Please have a look in the LT230 Technical Section to find a list of Serial numbers / Ratios.

So his would be 22C which err doesn't seem to exist?
:lalala:
edit: or does it mean 22D suffix C .. which makes mores sense

I'll climb back up later and double check the numbers.

So a standard 1.4 LT230 transfer box and normal LT77.
I have the same, and I think it really needs the larger 235/85 or 7.50 x 16 tyres to sit happily at 55/60. You are still within the normal rev ranges, but if the engine is worn, it will be a bit noisy. There shouldn't be a power issue, the TDi should be able to push it to 70, something I can't say for my 2.5 NA.

Ok i can't comfirm 100% as my 2.5td converted to defender 200tdi 90 doesn't have a sticker or serial no on the tranny box but with its original tyres ( 255 AT'S ) fitted to it when i bought it it would go through the gears fairly easy and could max out at 85 mph and with the now fitted 265-75 x 16 special tracks it still goes through the gears fairly easy but will max out at 80 mph but think if i really tried it would go to possibly 85 mph, but normally stay at 70 on motorways as the engine does start to get pretty noisy after that.

all mph's as used with a satnav ;)

I would be looking at the injector pump
had it on my old transit low down torque and and around town perfect just 70 top end as if limited tweaked the pump back up gained more top end

transit was ex fleet so possible done as limiter if ex utility / fleet landy has something similar been done ?

speeds seem low considering the out the box stated speed of the defender.

my 300 tdi running 31.5" on a 1.6 will sit at 70 all day long and if you put the metal down will do over 80 without to much fuss

Lift pump is new and injector pump reasonably new and running really nice. It pulls like a train! and goes through the gears really fast then tops out at 50. Don't get me wrong it can hit 65 but is revving it's backside off!

My standard 200tdi will easily do 80 and is quite stable at that speed but is bloody noisy.

On the motorway I stick to 70 in it and it's happy at that speed.

It was same with the 2.5 td in but a lot slower acceleration

has it got the 2.5TD complete exhaust on it or a defender 200 complete exhaust on it with exception to the down pipe depending if its a defender engine or disco engine, some say it doesn't matter as there is hardly anything in the difference to the bore sizes but it does 200 exhaust is slightly bigger.

when i bought mine it had already been fitted with a defender 200 with what i thought was a defender 200 exhaust but turned out it was a defender 2.5 td exhaust, bought a new defender 200 exhaust system and it made it a lot better then later fitted a straight through pipe which made it even better :D

U tend to find less transfer gear spline wear on an auto may be due to smoother uptake of drive [emoji41]
