Hi all!

This is my first post.

So, in the second photo, my hand is holding a vacuum on the left and a pipe that goes from the oil filler pipe in the first photo to the right of the second image.

Does anyone know where the vacuum on the left is attached because it didn't look like it was meant to be connected to the other pipe... If I don't hold my finger over the vacuum it won't hold a steady idle. Infact it stalls...

Anyway, I connected it to the other pipe and took it for a spin in the field, but it just seems to be sucking up oil through the pipe... Does anyone know where the vacuum should be attached??? Any help would be amazing.

Sorry for the long post! I really need to get it sorted :/

So I have 2 more photos of the parts I was talking about. The vacuum "smith and sons" being the first photo. When I attached it to the oil pipe it was just sucking gassy oil and making a lot of smoke when firing her up.

If I was to connect the way you said in the photo, then the cap on top of the rocker cover wouldn't have anything attached?... And the vacuum would still be connected to the oil pipe.. :/

Yeah well it was originally connected through the pipe from the air inlet on top of the carb. Which I removed so you could see the pipe from the top of the rocker cover.

I don't see where on the crankcase it could be connected. I've had a good look around for alternatives. Any ideas of where it might be?

It shows on the dipstick about half way between low and high. So im pretty sure it's not overfilled.

Do you think that the way I had it connected to the pipe from the oil filler tube is correct to the vacuum?

My only issue with it is that when I go to start it, it puffs out smoke from the vacuum..

now I think of it. There should be no suction at all on the oil fillerpipe. It is meant to take the overspill in oil from the engine. What if you connect the oilfillerpipe with the rockercover?
 
Unfortunately I can't remember it ever being infected there.. I could give it a go.. But then where would the vacuum be connected? :/ and then there is a pipe coming off the metal part of the air inlet...
 
Hi there,

The top of the carburettor is already attached to the air inlet with the pipe from the air filter.
But the vacuum comes off of the bottom of the carb and doesn't go anywhere...

No the brakes are effectively mechanical, there is no servo or vacuum.

This is not easy to sort! :p
 
So I've tried to start it without the vacuum on, and without my finger over the hole, and with my finger over the hole. It just spits out air/oil gas. And it stalls..

You can see the gas in the photo
