What is it about looking like a storm trooper when biking then? Bit like the hamshanks when the play the 'american football' pretend rugby. When we were kids you went out in jeans and a t-shirt on you bike, if you fell off it hurt, and you tried not to do it again. Thats what learning from your mistakes is about.
Same as when I go skiing or snowboarding, all the helmets and pads and crap, to be honest, if I hit something that bad and was going to be in a veg rack for the rest of my natural, I'd rather bow out then. Mind you, I'm not that bloody stupid in the first place.

Rob

Its only Downhillers that wear body protection, going down trails like in my pics at speed in the mud, surrounded by boulders, roots etc without armour would be suicidal. Also, i REALLY dont want to be a vegetable thanks very much, you seem as if you wouldnt be too bothered...
If you dont fall of now and and again your not trying or progressing! Same as with bashing your Landy about off road.
I'd probably have crippled myself a few times if i rode DH without armour and a decent helmet. Seriously.

Riding about 'when you were a kid' is not the same thing. Things have progressed unimaginably since when i guess you were a nipper in jeans and t-shirt.

BTW most of the silly pics of cyclists you guys have been putting up have been of road bikers or cross country riders, who ARE weird!

fook orf ya ****!!!
we wur building bikes with suspension and all sorts, using bits and pieces we had lying about. we then took them up some hills and mountains in scotland and proceeded to see who could get down the fastest. no helmets, no protection no fook all. we fell we got up and carried on. years later i still scored 187 on the mensa IQ, which is more than you and 177 of yer mates could achieve. so stop talking **** and see if you can manage without yer stabilisers next time

I see no reason for you to come out with an oafish 'fook orf ya twat'. It sounds like something youd hear a tramp say when you wake him up in the bus shelter.
There was no shit in my post, however if i knew you're address im sure your post might have.

Back to the point, all im saying is that mountain biking has progressed a lot over the years, as has the equipment - so naturally the terrain is very different, ie harder and more dangerous. People with any sense want to protect themselves from serious injury, which still occurs a lot even with it.
Again ill point out that im talking about DOWNHILL MOUNTAIN BIKING, not cross country, which is different altogether.

I'd enjoy reading a sensible, constructive reply, not a blind insult at the person above about how crap you think bikes are please.
