How much would you pay for a p38 that won't start knowing the potential money pit you could be falling into, people are just be honest with there valuations

Get it fixed...you know exactly what it's worth then

wow you aint reading it right fella I WONT sell it for silly money as i know its a bloody good clean solid motor thats got a silly fault that i might not be able find and fix but joe bloggs around the corner knows he can and offers me £1500 for it dont think so, i would rather strip every nut and bolt break it and get more money. and i dont think £3500 is dear for a m reg p38 with the full 02 spec upgrade and to say its had no effort i brought it just under 4 years ago as a bog standard dt no leather standard wheels and with a clutch gone so to go from that to what it is now takes a bit of effort ?[/quote

within the last few months ive sold an m reg 4.6 fer £2300 127,000 miles mint (was surprised wi that), a 98 dse fer £3250 138000 miles also mint wi color coded bumpers wheels tyres vents lights etc etc (undersold, the same one a l/z member offered me £2300 for and you know who you are lol), a 1998 4.6 also mint £2650... best advice i can give? get the fooker running, polished n cleaned so it looks the dogs barlocks and get as much as you can but a non running 95 rangie is worth fook all regardless of what wheels etc are on it....GET IT RUNNING

will only sell my car in bits worst case because i can get more money back, yet i got know reason to sell as i love it to bits and need it working asap would only part with it due to upgrading to a l322 you sell your motors down this way still going for good money if clean and low milage
me mates just purchased a 02 p38 4.6 mint condition but paid 8k for it:eek:

mk1astramad got stiched,so we tend to view offloading of vehicles by new people with suspicion.
Personally the Diesel is the way to go with a P38, but having owned a v8 one and fixed several-wouldn't ever own one longer than a month.

If eka code is not being accepted it is quite possible the wiring from switches is damaged from door to pillar where it flexes (decent specialist can check) also if faultmate/testbook won't talk the diagnostic socket suffers corrosion too.
None are drastic or unsolvable

How does that relate to yours, the 02 one is half the age of yours and no doubt less mileage.

If you don't wanna sell (sounded like it though) then get it back on the road

Just bought a 96 diesel P38 with an overheating problem for £900. Probably paid too much but it was here in France and it cost less than the price of the bits I need to fix mine, plus I now have a spare of everything!
