Not a thread about Kwik Fit and their service (my local is quite good!), but their ability to MoT a classic ('88 3.5 efi).

I did the landcruiser MoT last week and no problems. This week i tried to book the classic in for the MoT and the website said they weren't equipped to handle it!

I asked the Customer Services is this was right and they just shrugged and said i should call the local centre. I will get onto it, but wondered if anyone else had this problem?

They probably think that they need to use a decelerometer (Tapley meter) to do the brake test to avoid something horrendous to the transmission.
Tester's manual S1.2.1 "The primary brake tester must be used unless the vehicle is unsuitable due to its drive configuration, transmission type or braking system. If this is the case, a full or partial decelerometer test may be appropriate. You should consider any additional information from the vehicle manufacturer."
The 'primary brake tester' is the rolling road.

Perhaps it may be because modern Range Rovers are too heavy for class 4 carlifts and need to be tested at a class 7 equipped MOT centre.
I expect classic RR's are lumped into the same band.

It's managed to transport my plutocratic backside across fields, into the Queen's representative car park at Ascot and into London so it must be a RR. It also has a special cloaking device which means it doesn't offend people as much as modern ones...
