£250 and recommends using range rover obviously say's who thats aimed at. people with a few quid to spare.. £50 for the forest run with brekkie thrown in is quite reasonable. and could be fun. Redhand and Sirus your counting on never needing mountain rescue? A volunteer run organization who save many lives each year. ok. maybe this isint the place to advertise but some ppl on here might be genuinely interested.

I'll even organise a tour round the M6 Toll road for you all and chuck in a Big Mac meal at the services for £250 quid. All proceeds to Mountain rescuing peeps

I spent 10 years living in Snowdonia and was very active in helping and on occasion assisting South Snowdoina MRT. The problem with these types of tours is that they say all proceeds goto MRT but the reality (from bitter experience) is that for some strange reason the cost of organising and running these schemes seem to swallow up most of the monies raised, leaving a pittance for the MRT and Peeps pay to go on them because they think most of the money goes to the MRT when the reverse is usually true.

i spend a lot of time in the mountains climbing, hiking and genearly getting lost but for £250 i wouldnt want to leave me mansion. The outdoors should be brought to me!
nice idea, not so sure about the price!
The Mountain rescue bods do a good job(and i got real ****ed with a load of em from round fort william way).

I'm not normally one for fighting a lost battle... but the event is organised by a mountain rescue team, promoted by them and facilitated by them. It just so happens to make use of Forestry Commission land. For the sceptics out there half the ticket price of the Safari will go to the charity.
£50 for a responsible day out in the forest beats any trip up the M6!
There are very few genuine oportunities to spend an entire day on remote rugged lanes and the £50 reflects the cost of insuring and running the event - only because it is researched, promoted and staffed by volunteers can we make a contribution to our charity.
The Grand Tour is more than a 4x4 safari so look beyond this if you are trying to justify the cost. Afterall - look hard enough and you'll find it costs less than some rounds of golf, day skiing, a gun on a turkey shoot, dinner at Claridges and not a penny of that will ever find its way to charity. 60% of the GT ticket prices will go to charity - the event is widely sponsored and thus represents great value to particpants and the charity it serves.
There is no commercial element at all - so be fair!

That might be right but what about the people who have supported the 4x4 safari for years and then you come along and put the price up from £30 TO £50 but give no idea of what extra\your going to provide apart from a breakfast for the driver. Most of the people who have used this event in the past don,t own RANGE ROVERS but well used Land rovers which they keep going on a budget. £50 plus £60 for fuel is not good value.
