Hi, recently my key fob has become reluctant to lock and unlock the car, you have to either wave it around everywhere or hold almost against the car for it to work, the batteries are almost brand new so I'm a bit lost.

Also, when you unlock from the fob, not with the key, the drivers door makes a really loud noise which i assume is the solenoid?

Finally, when locked, the indicators can sometimes randomly flash, is that normal? Many thanks in advance.

The door lock is operated by a motor not a solenoid.
Are the batteries in the FOB making good contact?
Random flashing of the indicators is not a good sign, is the drivers side carpet wet by any chance?

Ok, might have to take a look at this motor, the carpet isn't wet no, I bent the contacts up slightly in the fob so they should be ok, tried it again and no better.

Does it do this everywhere or just in a certain place have you tried close to the rear drivers side window where the arial is

I needed to check whether its the updated version anyway so I'll replace it and see how it goes, where's the best place to get one do you reckon? Cheers

Ouch ! Before you spend that much try some new battery's of a good make ie Sony or similar I bought some on eBay that went flat quick I bet that were old stock worth a go at£2.00

Worth having a look at the receiver that he's got and the connections. It could be a bad aerial connection, especially as he reckons it's intermittent.

Just to update the thread, my rf receiver is the second version so therefore I will need to replace it at some point in the future, the connections looked ok, didn't get chance to remove the c pillar trim to look at the aerial, does anyone know what it consists of? Cheers.

The aerial is the pattern traced on the rear quarter glass.
