hi chaps.

This picture is key two for my P38. If you look at where the unlock button on the rubber pad should be you can see that it's different to the lock button. Is there something missing from the top of the microswitch?

It does actually work if you carefully push the switch but it looks like there is something missing can I buy this part or make something to suit?

I haven't taken mine to bits, (yet), but as BrianP38DSE says it looks like the microswitch membrane that protects the actual microswitch. Obviously your fob is now vulnerable to water ingress until it is replaced.

Thanks fellas, this is actually Key 2. Key 1 is now working well (ish) with new batteries and a new button pad. Ive got a new button pad for this one as well and more batteries on the way. Its just when fitted with the new button pad the unlock button doesnt actually press as the button pad doesnt reach down to the microswitch.

I will try a PM to mrsporty!

The original buttons have a small plastic insert that is capped in place by a soldered down metal cover. Over time, the solder breaks, the cover pops off and the plastic insert falls out.. leaving the switch as pictured.

I do provide services to fully repair those if you require. Your case doesnt look in too bad a condition so it should be a pretty simple repair. I've sent you the link via PM.

Thanks mate, if its a send of job then no problem. I was hoping to just get that part that's missing. I'll try and arrange something in a week or two.

If you are fully confident in being able to open the case without damaging the PCB and your ok with surface mount soldering, I will happily send you a couple of switches.

Unfortunately not. Once those inserts drop out, its because the metal capping has come loose. Basically its a PCB out job.

Those are the type of cases I use when recasing. You have to be a bit lucky as there are plenty of cases that look fine but the original key blade will not lock in place properly once fitted.

Not an issue for me as I also own a key cutting machine but worth highlighting.
