Evening all....quick question...
Well my night hasn't gone to plan....a Corsa had just gone into the back of me at a junction
Not a high speed impact but his is a write off....the spare wheel on back door made sure of that....
Now I can see the bumper lights are smashed other than that I can t see too much wrong?!
What should I be looking for that may be important...?
Rear door opens fine....it's dark now...will see more tomorrow of course.
Cheers all
Jerry

Has the rear wheel bent the rear door outer panel inwards?
All rear lights work?
Rear door, lock, wiper, window works?
Bumper cracked or damaged mounts?
Damaged rear wheel/tyre?

Ooh there's a surprise a Gaylander owner took it in the rear.

Sorry. As Hippo said. Also check ALL brakes if your where holding on foot brake or handbrake at time of impact. Rear boot floor for creases, Rear shocks, Make sure body is straight. I would take it to a body shop for a "quote/check over". If you have damage, Get an accident loss recovery firm to handle it instead of insurance :) means you don't have to declare on insurance although I suggest you declare any-way. They also don't take the excess like your insurance will.

Hope its ok for you , tailgate is costly to replace , I would remove the spare and check the mount etc , a freelander 2 overturned on sutton bank north yorkshire this evening , which is very steep the driver was travelling down the bank too fast in poor conditions , in hail storm and hit a car that had stopped , there was also another car on its roof , the standard of driving is getting worse

Tried it ...didnt like it:)

Get the vehicle checked professionally.

I will state that again to be 100% clear...

get the vehicle checked professionally.

You can look it over all you like yourself, but if you decide that its ok and thats that, the insurance claim will settle (if there is a claim) and its over. If you then find that your rear tyres wear out in a few hundred miles because the rear suspensions mounts are misaligned, or water ****es in through the boor aperture because its slightly out of shape, it will be way too late to do anything about that.

Sutton Bank is bad at the best of times!

+1

I was also rear ended a while back. The Toyota had to change the bumper, light and a few other bits and pieces. I just changed a rear light and light guard. It was at very low speed, perhaps a couple of KM/H. Lately it seems to be a lot more water in the boot than it used to. Don't know if it had anything to to with the incident, but you never know.

Things can look perfectly normal, but there might be some hidden faults.
