Hi there
I noticed something quirky about the headlight stalk on my 2002 TD5 110 CSW that only happens in cold weather (late autumn through early spring).

1) If I push the headlight stalk to side lights (1st switch position) everything is fine
2) If I push the stalk to main dipped beam (2nd switch position), a split second later the stalk physically jumps back to 1st switch position / side lights go on
3) If I try again to get dipped beam, eventually the stalk will stay in the right position / dipped beam goes on
4) The colder it is, the more times I have to repeat step 3).. normally takes 1-4 goes
5) Only occurs from a "cold start" i.e. doesn't repeat itself whilst I'm driving
6) Never happens in warm weather

Anyone else have this situation?

Cheers

Probably the rubber boot at the base of the stalk, they can get stiff in the cold and cause this very problem.
Make sure it is seated correctly and not pulling on the stalk, if all else fails you can make a little nick in the rubber and remove the pressure that way.
