The squeel is still there after lots of white spray grease and WD 40 it goes away for a bit when sprayed, then come back with avengence...... I so wished I had`nt jet washed the engine bay.

Looks like I`m going to have to start taking things off one be one, and greasing up the bearings.

Wheres those matches............

well if it goes away which bit are you squirting to stop the squeal?

Hard to tell really, It may be the actual belt????? After jet washing it may have become dry????

I dont really want to spray WD40 into the bearings as this will clear out the grease.

It seemed to go away when the belt was sprayed with WD40... But then again when spraying one pulley with grease it flicks out every where when engine is running.

Will try it again when I`ve more patience, but this time I`ll spray one pulley at a time, and then run the engine?

I can`t tell if its a belt squeal or a pulley squeal at the moment. It could be the belt slipping with the pulses of the TD4 engine, as the movement of the crankshaft is not smooth on a diesel, but rather jerks with each stroke of the piston , if that makes sence. I belive thats what Dual Mass flywheels are for to dampen this jerking motion, also saves the gear box too. (in a manual anyway). Sort of a impact driver type of pulsing.

I was about to say squirt the actual belt to see if it was the belt itself. When overdue for replacement you can see cracks and even strips missing from the surface. Same with the AC belt.

It could be the belt slipping on the alternator pulley. This is the one most likely to slip especially if you do a lot of stopping and starting. I recently had my belts off when replacing the crankshaft pulley which had debonded and was making a racket. Dirt had built up in the bottom of the grooves so that the belt wasn't pulling down into the Vees.
It is the contact between the belt and the flanks of the vee which tansmits the power. It would be worth having a look at the state of the belts before taking any other action.
One old fashioned remedy was to dust the belt with talc to dry up any oil/grease which may be present.

The Main belt looks ok no cracks splits etc, looks like this has recently been changed at some point, the AC belt is on its way out, lots of cracks and splits, this one will have to be changed, I may just loosen it off and try and keep it out of the way while just having the main belt running, see if there is any difference.

This is a possibillty, I may just take it off give it a good clean, refit and see what happens. But I would have thought a good jet washing would have gotten rid of all or most of the crap.???

don't do that, if it grabs and jumps under the aux belt.....well it's goodbye

Quickest way is to cut it off, it's fecked anyway and your ac clutch isn't working yet...

The build-up of dirt was in the grooves of the pulley which would be covered by the belt while washing it. It was very hard and had to be cracked out with a scriber.

Well today I just WD40ed the main drive belt and the noise went away, so it looks like its my belt, Think I`ll take it off and give it a good clean, or I may just replace it if there, cheap enough.

As for may air con not kicking in, I put 12v on the compressor and it kicked in, so I`m thinking I have no gas. I removed the air con gas presure switch which was`nt on very tightly ( probably were all my gas went, so put new o ring on and tightened up) and all I got was a Psssst!! nothing much at all, so its looking like its needing a re-gas.
