oh bugger ..... Thought it was going too well.

Car passed it's MOT after replacing the drop links on the anti roll bar.
Just had a good run down from North East to Birmingham, car going well until just pulling into hotel car park and notice the temp gauge stating to climb.
Parked up and there is water and steam coming out of back of engine near bulkhead over the gearbox.

It is diesel P38. Is someone going to be kind and tell me there is a coolant pipe at the back of the engine and it is not the cylinder head gasket that has failed ..... Please .... Pretty please. :-(

Favourite would be that bastard of a metal pipe across back of head possibly the C shaped hose that goes to it. If it is and you fit a new one use proper hose clips not those silly expanding ones.

Just managed to have a look after topping up with water.

I can see it dripping out where that rear pipe joins the rear nearside of engine just does not appear to be able to get to it without removing the inlet manifold.

May get trailered home on Thursday and sort it out there.

You can't, unless you are a gynecologist and can paper your hallway through the letterbox. :D

Had early brekkie at hotel and took the inlet manifold off.
The pipe where the clamp is on has been crushed narrower over time so the clamp is not making it watertight anymore.

If there is anyone near J2 of M42 that has a worm O clamp around 25mm tightened I would be grateful, at least it should get me home tomorrow so I can change the pipe.
Id not may have to see if there is enough pipe to cut off the crushed end, reattach with original clamp.
