Just read my battery with the engine running and it was 13.8v.

On my battery reader there are two setting one set to the left and one set to the right. one side there is a "V" and the other side there is an "A".

Its a small hand held battery tester that uses a 9v battery.

I have noticed that after disconnecting the blue wire on the RF receiver the window do not close with the key fob.

Sorry no i don't know about electrics, though you would have guessed....lol
It may have, but to read Amps you need to connect the unit in series with the battery, just switching from one side to the other will not automatically give the current draw from the battery.

Thanks,

For the advice on my battery drain problem.
Since i disconnected the Rf receiver i can leave the car for a few days and the battery is fine.

Well done guys.

As stated in previous posts, most likely the RF receiver in boot, or the BECM not sleeping.
I do believe a way of checking the BECM is to switch off the ignition, remain in the car and do not open any doors or switch on any electrics. Remove key from ignition. Watch for the red LED light by the gear selector by the sports / manual button to extinguish. I should go out within a few minutes, if it does not then something is keeping the BECM awake thus battery drain. I believe this is correct but I'm sure if wrong one of the more experienced members will correct me.

Reviving and old thread rather than starting a new one. What about the RF transmitter in the key fob? Surely at this age the output signal strength is falling off? My key is starting to be a real pain, I know there's a lot of snake oil on eBay for this one but in reality can the transmitter be replaced / rebuilt?

I had one of my keys refurbished by MrSporty on Fleabay, works a treat now

Soldering a couple of broken connections and fitting a new cover and push buttons is NOT fixing the transmitter. I did that refurb myself my key also works perfectly. Playing with the transmitter is a whole different ball game. ;);)

So what are the choices? Are there aftermarket replacement keys out there ready to be reprogrammed? Is there a litte IC on the board perhaps that's all that needs to be changed?

There are no aftermarket keys out the that will work landrover only, even second hand keys cannot be reprogrammed basicley they have us by the balls.
