Isofix??? Have They Or Havent They???

Evening all, just a quickie (oi oi) have the hippos (2002) got the isofix brackets in them?

If not can anyone suggest how I can make my seatbelt longer. Let me explain why! Today we have been to Mamas & Papas as my other half is due our baby next month. We have just bought the pram and baby seat and when I have tried to fit the baby seat the satbelts in the back of the hippo are to short.

Any one help me???

hi mate, i had a similar problem in my last car b4 my freelander and had to squash the car seat hard into the back seat to make it fit. if that dosn`t work try and disarm the airbag in the front , move the seat back a bit and there should be plenty of length then, but i`m not sure if midwifes let you take the baby home in the front of the car? either that or change the car seat.

Your doing something wrong or the seat isn't designed to be used with a seat belt. All baby seats have to fit in a car without adapting the belts. If it won't fit take it back and get a different model.(the baby seat that is not the gaylander)

Redhand, the carseat we have bought has a base unit. It stays in the car and the seat clips onto it and then the belt just goes around it.

Sounds like an Isofix then If so you shouldn't need a belt for it. have you checked the manual for fixing instructions? give me the model name/no and year/model of your landy I'll check the web for compatibility/issues. You may not be the only one with the same problem.

Not only is the fit better and more solid, installing ISOFIX seats is quicker and easier!
 
Hi, not much help but you can buy universal seatbelt extenders, I see ebay do some but I'm not sure of a main dealer. Some car companies don't like them but they are considered safe enough for fat people so I think a baby might just be fine. Please please please don't put the baby in the front, airbag or not, your midwife would have a blue fit if she found out :)

A quick phonecall to your landy stealer will tell you if you have ISO-FIX almost all cars made after 2002 do. I would return it an get an isofix seat if your able to. If you can't then practise fitting and removing the seat until it becomes 2nd nature. You don't want to be struggling at the side of a busy road in the pouring rain. Oh and always fit the seat on the passenger side if possible the number of people I see standing in the middle of a busy road with the door wide open while they struggle to get their kids in/out while the traffic is roaring past is nuts. I almost killed a woman on the M56 when she stopped on the hard shoulder in thick fog and opened the drivers side rear door to let her child out. fortunately the middle lane was clear and I managed to swerve.

DON't buy seatbelt extenders this is your childs life we're talking about here, If it won't fit or your not 100% happy take the seat back and get one that will fit. As long as they're in a properly fitted child seat and the airbag is disabled correctly. fitting a seat in the front isn't illegal or wrong and it's fook all to do with the midwife.
 
Can someone please measure the belt buckle for me as there is an extension finishing on fleabay in a few hours and the other half wont answer her phone.

Dimensions on ebay:


Total Extension length = 700mm (27.5'')
Without buckle and Clip = 600mm (24")

Buckle Dimensions - Width 21mm - Inside hole 12mm x 20mm
