There probably is, but as my special tool wasn't designed for a torque wrench, I just went to FT.

Just some thick sheet with nibs on it, welded to a long bar.

I read, but can't remember where, that the nut is shaped that way to stop it being over tightened. I just did it up by hand, nipped it up with some grips and pinned it.

You could be right! The equivalent on later vehicles is held in with a circlip, so it can't be that important.

My rear is only held on by circlip. Think I will just nip the big nut up and take it from there, be a while before its rolling so got plenty of time to figure it out.
