you know who the restorer is???????????? If you do go to Barmatt or trax with a PM there are lots of people that can help you if the right info is given to the right person . Where is party monkey

i'm not much more use to be honest. i can generally spot em and that's it ;)

Somthings not right,
its not a 73 or a 69 or anything pre 80s IMO.
chassis is coiled, so 90/defender looking at it, air intake is on the right side or a 300tdi, but its not a 300 wing, maybe it was originally a 19j??
I thought 200tdi and prior had vents above the rear door (may be wrong on that one)
rear Xmember is TD5 style, no biggie, unless the rest is a TD5 chassis

Matty, this may or may not be the right course of action for you but I really would try and get my cash back first before getting plod involved as once they are involved if its a stolen rung vehicle you will be lucky to see any of your cash back.

Good luck mate and good on you for speaking up and not just staying quiet, i hope it doesnt cost you too much in the long run.

Now how close is that to the tax free stolen Defenders at the B&W show that Doc caused all the ruckus with? And then Red mentioned a few weeks ago there were so arrests made. Sounded like that whole club specialized in tax free defenders.

Your reading to much into that. Some arrests were made from the same area and a few days later the club didnt turn up to a show they had a pitch at.

We have no evidence there is any connection

Can't really add much to the above, except to say try hard to get your money back. Can't see any way that this is legit.
And the trouble with leaving it will be the possibility of a keen mot tester or , more likely, an outraged landy owner, reporting it to vosa and you could end up with nothing or worse, a back tax liability.

well, his insurance would also not pay out, so if you or anyone is hurt then you are screwed... assuming the landy is actually safe to drive and not some abortion.

i'm insured to drive a specialized hybrid 4x4 based on a land rover 90 chassis with a 2.5L 300tdi, this is what i was told to insure it as

Don't worry i'm on it first thing is the chassis number then to a expert to advise and then money back

and it was MOT'd at a reputable garage

1- insurance could care less until a accident and claims made.

2- mot garage does not check to see if it is a legit vehicle, only that it is a safe roadworthy vehicle

good luck, let us know how you get on.

and don't let this put you off, maybe post some pics before buying the next one and we'll help you weed out the dodgy / crap ones :)
