Hiya guys and girls.
At the end of last year some of you may the Golden Girl was away for around 3 months to become the best girl she could be.
Part of the reason was because I was having the following issues:
key was intermittently not turning in barrel
When key turned, engine sometimes struggling to start
Windows, EAS, seats, telescoping steering column, etc ,wouldn't function for several minutes after engine started.
So cut to vehicle comes back:
Battery changed as part of remedy.
Ignition barrel also changed.
We then come to what has been happening since her return:
She again has the difficulty with ignition barrel. Which has been getting worse.
Today the electrics start the old trick of not playing until she has been running for several minutes.
The EAS has gone off completely, no lights at all. The telescoping steering has stopped working automatically, but can be moved manually.
The memory seats have stopped working but can be moved by using the other buttons.

So what do we reckon ? Battery or ECU?

Is easier check battery than ecu so start with simple stuff. Some fit a 750/800CCA unit which isn’t up for running a diesel p38 never mind an L322.
Mine takes same battery as yours one thing I’ve noticed is even with my brand new 1000cca mf31 my electrics are playing up - seems to be the general damp accumulated in there nothing more. Others have noticed similar lately.

How often do you drive it?

Try putting some lead on your pencil/key.

Take it back and get them to fix what they said they had?

They have put a lower Ah and CCA battery in. Different brand. But assured me it was the right size, when I questioned them.
My big worry is the CCA.
Due to lockdown, I can't get her to them, as I usually book into an hotel, whilst everything is looked at/sorted/ parts delivered.
I took her for a nice long run today, left engine running when took dog for a walk, and when in shop. So 2hrs or more with engine running, in case battery was low. I really don't need the battery crap again. I'm back to can't leave her more than a few days!
Which is why I was really, really, really hoping it might be ECU. However, when last one was replaced, the steering and seats went, but not EAS.
Yes you are also all correct about voltage. Time to try to find my multimeter :(

Poss drain on the battery when switched off
Could try amp reading through battery cable when shut down, or disconnect battery when left for a couple of days

Ideally 1000cca but smaller one should still last while more than you’ve had it. No amount of driving will charge the battery up on a RangeRover is why majority use trickle chargers even on the daily drivers.

+1 take it back if you are on good terms with this one :D;)

Just done a search for "battery" posted by @gold rover
I think you already know what you should do first, biggest f off battery :D
My problem is until recently I trusted these guys. They had never let me down. When I started getting issues I phoned and spoke with one of them , who knows what he is doing. He assured me that the battery in her is up to the job.
My geographical location means getting another battery , and getting it fitted, is on a par with getting rocking horse poo, from a sheep.

I wonder if a tractor battery would do? ;)
