Is 2k to 2.5k too little?

tbh i would be happy with the 4.0se too, HSE would be a bonus, but overal condition is the main factor.

you could get a tidy one for that money i would think,i dont look at mine as a money pit its a 50k car thats worth 2% of its origional sale price but has the running costs of a 50k car,all the depreciations gone out of mine and it wasnt me that suffered it so im not too worried about repair bills,im going to part with mine due to redundancy next year but ill be wanting a lpg v8 or a deisel p38 because i coudnt imagine not having one in the family.go for it and enjoy the ownership off a superb car, motoring in the uk isnt cheap due to tax's etc but i still think owning a v8 at least once in my driving life is worth every penny i spend on it.

good luck with your hunt and hope you find a nice tidy p38.

Test drive a diesel and then try a V8. I know which one you'll prefer. I think Monty1's point is very good too re someone else taking the hit on depreciation. You don't get owt for nowt as they say. You either pay in depreciation when they're newer or repairs when they're older.
Theres alot less hassle involved with the depreciation:D

Very, very true. A bit of a gamble with older stuff but it depends what you can afford at the time. I also run an old Peugeot 306 diesel that cost me a grand 4 years ago. Costs me around two hundred quid a year for the MOT and servicing bits. Cheap motoring at its best. Don't think I'll get away that lighty with the Rangie though.......
